I purchased this makeup mirror in December 2012. Today is July 25, 2017 and the bulb just blew today after 4.5 years of daily use. Awesome mirror! It's just the right size, and the lighting is perfect. Having lighting on both sides is great. I've never been able to pluck my eyebrows so well! Its especially good for people such as myself who need to be able to get very close to the mirror in order to do makeup without glasses on. Also, the lighting makes it so that I never go outside and realize my makeup is way too dark or light because the lighting I did it in was bad.It also looks cute, which is a plus. As others have noted, it does get very warm. Never to the point of being uncomfortable to touch, but I wouldn't leave it on when you're not in the room. I just turn it on to do my makeup or pluck my eyebrows and switch it off as soon as I'm done, and I've had no issues with it.Overall, I'm very happy with this item! I absolutely loved this mirror while it worked, however after buying one it broke and the light no longer worked. I contacted conair and no one responded to my e mail. Since I loved the mirror so much I figured maybe it was just one bad mirror and I bought another one. So a few months goes by and then the same scenario all over again. My wife had this for four years and it didn't get much use. We live in this home just over six months of the year, and she doesn't wear makeup very often-maybe a few times a week. Turns out this is the right one!7x mag is perfect (5 was not enough, 10 was too much).My last mirror wasn't bright enough, others were too stark, but this one is just right!Round mirrors are too small, fold out rectangles take up too much space, this oval is just right!Some brands have some distortion in the mirror itself, especially in the magnification, making my face appear either square or oblong, but this is clear and doesn't distort at all.Perfect! If you are like me (and by "like me," I mean "37 years old" and "suddenly growing these occasional freaky black hairs out of your chin and neck,") then this is the mirror for you! I have small children so it's not like I make it out to get my nails done very often, but every time I do, the person doing them enthusiastically asks me, "do you want us to do your eyebrows for you while you're here?" And I'm going, man, I swear, I've been grooming my brows, and I check all the time for those stray hairs that occasionally pop up on my chin/ neck. So why is it that I never seem to notice my chin whisker until it's already like half an inch long? This mirror is not only the perfect height, it is the perfect size, weight, and offers the correct lighting to make your makeup look perfect. I've been using it for about a month now and can confidently say that out of the many makeup mirrors I have owned, this is the best. Major and dangerous flaw with these. I bought 2 of these 1 year ago, when turning it on the other day half the switch and contact broke off in my hand. I grabbed the second one I bought, which has been used far less and it is already cracking in the same exact spot. That is pretty sad for 2 $30.00 mirrors from such a well known brand. I've had lighted mirrors that are over 20 years old and not a hitch. I highly doubt I'm the only one this has happened to, or perhaps I'm just lucky enough to buy two defective mirrors. Read more

My wife is fairly pleased with this purchase (which is the whole point, right?)The mirrors themselves are pretty good and clear. I've seen cheap mirrors that seem to give everything a mild texture, but these mirrors don't have that cheapness. The magnifying side really magnifies. As one review said, its definitely strong enough to see individual pores. I also like the oval shape as it seems more natural given how faces are generally shaped.But the important part is the lighting. Power is provided by a wall plug and not batteries, making this slightly less portable and tying it to a close plug. Not a huge deal, but if that is important to you, you should know that. Its a cheap cord with a cheap switch so be mindful when next to a sink or other water source.The lighting is bright enough especially when your face is right up to the mirror to use the magnifying part, but its slightly too dim when using the normal side. Its a decent accent light and helps fill some shadows, but don't expect it to light up your whole face by itself. I haven't noticed any heat buildup but they're definitely not LEDs inside, so some heat is going to be produced. On the other hand, its a relatively warm (colour) light without the harshness of cheap LEDsIf they were bright LEDs with a good CRI, especially if the brightness was adjustable (its not), these would be 5-star. I love the functionality of this light, I have purchased it 4 times over several years. Two the glass broke due to tipping (my fault) but the last two the switch broke or fell apart. The last one it fell apart within the 1st 2 weeks, I tried to fix it but no luck. I tried to return it, within 30 days and am not able to, and I have no idea why.
