The comb attachment is plastic and constantly bends during blow drying. i typically heat up boiling hot water to straighten the pick comb out. Attachments fit well doesnt move around. They need to construct the comb a little better or give som kind of disclaimer and instructions for the comb when it gets twisted up like this. Otherwise, good blow dryer. Read more

I had the Yellowbird for about 7+ years so when it burned out I was so sad. I wanted to buy it again but when I saw the specs on this one I HAD to get it.... I bought hoping it would be just like the yellowbird and BETTER! And I got just that, It is soo quick with blow drying my hair, and I have alot of it. I use the comb attachment very often and I love how its a durable plastic but its also not to breakable. My yellowbird comb I broke like 2teeth on it and it started popping off from getting caught in a tangle in my hair. With the Silver bird it has about 4 rubber grippers on it so when you pit it on its pretty secure. It fits on the outside. I have never used the smoother thing (I honestly don’t know what its for) but that attaches on the inside of the barrel. Overall this blowdryer is a WIN. And the removable filter is a life saver because it will not burn out as easy if you keep that part clean (note to self) Very happy with this purchase. Read more

I bought this blow dryer last year but unfortunately had to resort to rebuying the yellow bird. The blow dryer works well BUT the comb attachment is flimsy. The prongs bend easily and thus tangles and pulls out my natural, coarse hair. I tried the blow dryer on my two mixed nieces who have significantly softer and fine hair. Same outcome. I called the company about the comb attachment and they asked that mail back the entire unit at my own expense. I decided against this given a comb attachment should cost no more than $5 and shipping would be nothing less than $10. Hopefully the company will improve the design with time. Read more

Having spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on hair dryers - tourmaline, ceramic, tourma-ceramic, infrared, turbo, T3, you name it - I always admit defeat in the end and default to my trusty old yellow bird. But this, this is an upgrade in a BIG way. At first I was skeptical of the comb attachment, because it was soft, unlike the yellow bird's... it's outstanding. My hair only feels this great from a blowout at the salon. Worth every single penny.It's a little heavy, though, and can be hard on the wrists. But drying time has cut down so much, it's an easy trade off for me. Highly, highly recommend!Edited (1 year later)So the comb attachment got mangled and bent - through no fault of my own - and I could not find a suitable replacement. Also, Conair's customer "service" doesn't feel they need to respond to inquiries, apparently. But for those of you also looking, I found a better attachment - the Solano 2-in-1 Dryer Attachment. So far so good. I have coarse hair as in straight from Africa kind of really coarse. My hair stylist always uses it to blow dry my natural hair before she trims it and it will give a good stretch so she can get all my bad split ends out. So I decided to buy it and it has been great. Love it! I have very thick hair and when I blow dry my hair at home, it is much easier to use the comb attachment to achieve a decent result. Most other blow dryers I've tried in the past either have rigid comb attachments where the teeth get stuck in my hair and snap off, rendering the dryer useless to me, or it doesn't get hot enough or sometimes it gets too hot while holding it. Not so with this design, the dryer is sturdy, the comb attachment is soft and flexible, fits snugly on the nozzle and it gets hot, but the nozzle is cool to the touch! The comb attachments design is fantastic, it's rubbery yet firm which pretty much means that the teeth will not snap off. I thought it was a little pricey, but the cheaper dryers I bought in the past were clearly a bust so I decided to press my luck with this one and after a few uses I knew it was definitely worth the price. This is the first time I've ever written a review for a product I've bought off of Amazon - that's how much I love this blow dryer!I know that the effectiveness of hair products depends greatly on the type of hair so just for reference, I have fairly thin blond hair (color treated) that is naturally loose curly and always frizzy. Previous dryers I've had leave my hair completely dried out and brittle, with lots of breakage in the process, so I always use a straightener after if I have to blow dry my hair.But this dryer is a game changer. I use the straightening attatchment and brush my hair while drying it. IT WORKS. It leaves my hair beautiful, soft to the touch, and a natural straight (I've used my straightener once or twice afterwards to make it a more sleek straight, that's why I say "natural straight") - NO friz and NO brittle breakage. My life was CHANGED by this dryer - I no longer cringe at the thought of how dried out my hair will be after a shower and blow dry.
