I searched for the best hair dryer to travel with in Europe for 5 weeks and I am so glad I landed on this one. It worked perfectly all over Europe with no power issues. I also used it with the BaBylissPRO Italian Series Slide-On Diffuser which fit perfectly. This is now my go to travel dryer even in the US as it is so small!! It literally fits in the palm of your hand and I love that I dont have to take up so much room in my luggage with a dryer/ diffuser combo.Countries I used this in:Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Czech Rep, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Spain Read more
After carefully reading the questions and reviews of many travel hairdryers, I finally narrowed the choice down to two worthy contenders--the BaBylissPRO TT and the Conair MiniPRO. I ordered both, and the following is a comparison of the two.First off, they are both excellent travel hairdryers, easily besting my old heavy, bulky travel dryer that was about 20 years old and had gotten sticky with age (why does the rubberized coating on some items inexplicably deteriorate spontaneously into a gummy mess?) These new ones have much more airflow (I estimate about the same from both, maybe slightly more from the Conair, but hard to say with no way to objectively measure it as I don't have a anemometer.) Neither has as much airflow as a typical full-sized hairdryer, but that is just physics, and the trade-off for portability. They both seem to get about as hot, although the Conair might be a smidgen cooler on both settings--it is close. The Conair handles 220 volts by locking out the "high" setting, thus only having one heat/airspeed setting abroad. The BaByliss has a true 220 volt setting, with both low and high settings functioning abroad. Both are relatively quiet, but the BaByliss is not quite as shrill nor quite as loud. The BaByliss is smaller, not by a huge amount, but definitely smaller. The total weight (dryer and cord) of the Conair is about 0.2 ounces less (I consider that an insignificant difference), apparently due to it's 10 inch shorter cord! (The body of the Conair weighs more than that of the BaByliss.) They are both covered with a similar texture & color grippy finish, that I hope does not get sticky over time like my old dryer. The BaByliss has a removable back cover to allow cleaning of the lint screen, the Conair does not. The Conair, as of this review, is about $12 less expensive than the BaByliss. So there you have it. I think that if you are pinching pennies and are willing to give up the low setting when traveling abroad as well as a little extra room in your suitcase, the Conair is the better value. But if you are like me and want that dual setting abroad, smaller size, and a longer cord (at essentially the same total weight), you will find the BaByliss the better dryer. The only alternative travel dryer that I am aware of having true dual 220 volt settings is the Brookstone, and that is about $54, larger, and heavier. I'm keeping the BaByliss. Read more
I bought this for the small size and the dual voltage for use on a trip to Ireland. The size is nice and small for travel, and the dryer works well on high here in the U.S.; not as powerful as my regular dryer but quite enough power for its size. I'll update after my trip overseas. So far, very pleased. The red color is very nice.Update: Be sure to use it on the low setting when overseas and using a higher voltage. The low setting provides equal power to the high setting when you are overseas on 220 or 240 volts. If you accidentally use the high setting overseas, the dryer will over- heat and shut down immediately, leaving an acrid smell in the air. Luckily, when I accidentally used it on the high setting, although the dryer cut off almost immediately, after it cooled down, it worked perfectly on the low setting. In other words, the higher voltage did no permanent harm to the dryer. So f you are overseas, turn the dryer to 220 volts ( on a little button that you can change back and forth between voltages by using a coin in the button 's slot) and remember to only use the dryer on the low setting. I am looking for a small travel hair drying because my gym doesn't provide one and I hate walking around with wet hair. I was deciding between this one and other ones that are 1875W since I was afraid that this won't be powerful enough. However, the deciding factor is the weight of this hair dryer since it's much much lighter than the other ones and I hate to lug dead weight around. After using it for the first time, I realize that it's drying my hair even faster than the regular hair dryer that I have. So for now I have been using this one even when I am at home. I am so glad I got this one. Read more
I have had this product for less than 5 months. In that time, it has shut off on me, started melting and smelling burned. I should have addressed the issue earlier. I tried to on the Product Support link attached to this listing and the link doesn't work. I have attempted to call customer service and both times waited over 30 minutes I am on hold yet again. Just sharing my experience and proof of what happened to item I received. I travel for work 1-2 times a month ad purchased this item to use but it wasn't worth it. FYI - I purchased the recommended diffuser which may have been the cause of the burning shown in the picture. Why recommend something if it will have this outcome? Read more
This is fairly powerful for a mini hair dyer, and is compact and lightweight for travel. The dual voltage is very useful. I used it switched to 220 volts and paired with a plug adapter in the UK. Please note that if you switch it to 220 volts and run it on that current, you can't turn it to the high setting...but the low setting becomes much more powerful than when it's used on US 120 volt current. This is a safety feature to keep you from frying the appliance and yourself. It's fine, and not a defect. Read more
Bought this for a trip since it was small and compact, but after we got on our trip and I pulled it out to use it - it lasted only 5 minutes and shut off. My hair was not dry yet. Would not buy this again. Apparently it over heats after a few minutes and you can't ever finish drying your hair. Yea it finally cooled enough to turn back on but by then my hair had dried. Unless you have baby hair, it wont dry your hair without over heating and shutting off. Read more
Read more
Read more
