The key to using the shoulder pad is obtaining an effective fit. This can become a challenge depending on the person's anatomy. This pad wasn't a perfect fit, but worked better than the "universal" pad I originally purchased. I had a friend sew a reusable cloth layer to which I sewed a velcro strip to attach to the velcro "patch" on the center of the pad to keep it in place. The connectors on DonJoy machine worked fairly well with this system. but require two hands to release and connect, which can't be done with the limited use of the hand on the operative arm. My girlfriend blew out her shoulder with a multi-tear rotater cuff injury. Had the surgery to correct it and I bought this appliance to use with an ice machine I borrowed from a friend for her recovery. This appliance is absolutely incredible. You can adjust it multiple ways, with velcro straps and a shape/design that lets you mold it to any body part you need to, and it stays in that position FOR MONTHS. Not just that, but the connectors are rock-solid and DO NOT LEAK OR DRIP ONE BIT. And let me tell you, my girl beat the hell out of it, tossing and turning and folding it this way and that over MONTHS of recovery, sleeping with it on, waking up with it mashed up underneath her because of her tossing and turning, and never once did it leak. I bought the cold water cervical pad for circulating cold water around the neck using a Breg Polar Care Cube. The thing leaked immediately. In fact, it leaked from both the connection point to the line from the Breg AND between the blue hose connection and the plastic port connector of the collar itself. That is an inexcusable flaw in the quality of the design, manufacture, and components of the device.
