Love this color. I’m not dark brown and not medium either and this is a prefect balance to cover all my gray. Just a pro tip for perfect coverage: If you want the best results do a neutral protein filler (they sell it on here too) right before you color and never have to worry about even or long lasting coverage from box dye again. Will definitely buy this color again. Read more

I have been using this for several years now. I have used many boxed home dye brands over the years, and this is by far my favorite. The number one best thing about it is how healthy it leaves my hair. My hair feels so soft and silky immediately after rinsing, even before conditioning. It continues to feel silky and healthy day after day, week after week. It covers the gray very well, and the color is natural looking. Since I am a regular user, I am careful to follow directions for applying to the roots first, and only applying to the rest for about the last five minutes. I have just below the shoulder hair, and I like to be careful to not let the length get too dark from frequent dying. I use this about every 8-12 weeks, and in between I use Nice and Easy Root Touch Up. I get a lot of compliments on my hair. The color is a nice, rich brown. It's not ashy or red, it's just a nice flattering rich brown. It has become impossible to find this in any store. I suppose that means it's on its way out, which would be terrible. I will buy this for as long as they make it and I can buy it. Read more

This is my first time trying Clairol hair dye. I've used over hair dyes, but went with this one as my normal brand (Garnier) would not arrive in time for when I needed it.This home dye is applied like every other home dye and it has a cool perk: the 'predye' cream! It was a cream you smooth over year hair before you do anything else. It sits for a few minutes and it smelled wonderful! (You are instructed to wash your hands after applying it.)Up first was to put on the gloves. The first one went on with no issues. The one, the edge ripped off and the glove shredded. My fingers and palm were still mostly covered so I was able to go on.Next was to mix a tube with the bottle. This is *just like* every other home dying kit EXCEPT it is also a hand workout - or hand torture session. After using the back of the lid to poke open the top of the tube, I spent a good 20 minutes squeezing the tube. Being that it was difficult, at one point of squeezing, I accidentally hit the bottle I was squeezing into and the entire mixture fell to the floor. I had to stop and clean my floor. Fun. Of course the bottle had also fallen into the slime as well. I thought I had it cleaned off when I put it back onto my counter. I was wrong. Their was a small dab on the bottom edge that left a nice arc-shape on my counter. Had I not spent another 10 minutes getting more of the color paste out, I would have moved the bottle sooner, seen it, and been able to clean it up faster. The bottle is also foil?/metal? and had to be rolled from the bottom to force the cream out the hole. As the tube roles, the edges become sharp and stab your already-hurting hands making it even more difficult to squeeze the bottle.I was concerned the thick color would not mix with the bottle cream as it was still separated when it fell on my floor; however, it mixed easily and nicely, making an even color (where it took).I followed the directions for overall coverage (option B) because, well, COVID. I haven't had my hair dyed in over 6 months and had a good 4 inches of new hair growth. It was during this time that I noticed the goop on my counter from the bottle. Magic Eraser to the rescue and you can only barely see it now (but it's still there). The dye on my broken glove gave it a hulked-out look so I minded the broken glove even less; however, with hulk strength, it would not have taken me so long to squeeze the dang tube ...By the time I was supposed to put the final cream product on my hair, my hands were swollen and in severe pain from all the time I spent squeezing the tube.I finished the final step and let my hair dry. I was very disappointed that this 'guaranteed color' did not color the majority of my gray. I will wash my hair for the first time in a couple of days (with salon color protecting shampoo) and hope to update this post with how well it stays in the rest of my hair.I cannot imagine ever purchasing this brand again. In the many times coloring my hair, I have never had so much difficulty with the prep. If not for the tube, I would still be disappointed that the color did not 'take'. It's been two days now and my hands are still swollen and in pain. I cannot imagine my mother or someone with arthritis/fibromyalgia/other inflamation problems using this product. Read more

I rarely write reviews. But I don't want others to make my mistake. I bought two of these. The top of the developer bottle was different from what I buy at the store and each other. It's very close, but not right. The solution inside was too watery and smelled like hand soap. I'm not risking losing my hair to a counterfeit product.Unfortunately I'm past the time to return. So just throwing both of them away. It's sad that it's no longer being sold at a reputable store. This had been the only hair dye I've trusted for many years. Read more

Did not cover the grays! I used the serum first which I never did before.( other products didn’t come with it) This left my hair wet and made it harder to find the grays to cover. I made sure to cover/ saturate the roots as I usually would. I left the product on my roots for 30mins as instructed and applied to rest of hair for additional 5mins. It says do not exceed 35mins— so I Washed and air dryed. It left my hair feeling Soft and shiny. Nice color. I took a closer look in the mirror later to find a lot of grays in my roots uncolored! I had a little bit of mixed color still in the bottle so Im applying again for another 15-20mins. Im hoping the color is still good after it’s been sitting in the bottle for over an hour :( Read more

Great for full coverage that lasts a couple of weeks longer than other brands...don’t leave it on your skin too long or you will have dyed skin! Fingernail polish remover will help to lighten it on your skin... Read more

I have very resistant grey hair and Clairol's Age Defy Export hair color is the first product that I have used that covers my greys and doesn't fade between colorings. Most other hair coloring products (especially if you use the darker colors) will begin to fade after a week or two. Clairol's Age Defy color remains true even four or more weeks after coloring. If you have dark hair with resistant greys, I would recommend this product. Read more

Im out of my time frame for a replacement but just a warning. If you buy in multiples... check all the items upon receipt. Read more
