I've been using this item for years in my efforts to prevent my osteopenia from becoming osteoporosis. It's calcium citrate, which is said to be easier to absorb than other forms of calcium, and recommended by experts as better than other forms. I take it 3x daily to meet the recommended 12 mg calcium a day. The body cannot absorb more than 500 mg at a time , so don't try to take more than 2 at a time. I sometimes try to take it 4x a day to make it 1600 mg since I am a senior citizen and my requirements may be higher, Taking more than 2000 a day is NOT recommended for anyone, however, and is actually bad for you. These caplets are narrower and smaller sized overall compared to regular calcium tablets with 400mg of calcium. Note that each serving or dose of these calcium caplets is a two caplet dose.Take two caplets twice daily, with or without food. That is a plus. Basic calcium is recommended to be taken with food, to reduce the risk of stomach upset. I know regular calcium gives me heartburn, but that's not a common symptom.Petites have a coating that make this tablet easier to swallow than tablets not coated.375 caplets, when taken as directed (4 caplets daily) will last about 3 months.This product also has Vitamin D3 in it, so that the calcium can be absorbed. If you are 55 or older (like me) you will want to have your vitamin D levels checked once or twice a year, as your vitamin D may need to be supplemented individually, according to your lab values.This is a good supplement to take as directed.
