This Cerave is recommended by our daughter’s dermatologist. And it does a fantastic job of moisturizing dry skin. It’s the savior of dry skin, under attack by pollution, the sun, relentless cosmetics and said removal thereof, and acne preparations. The first tub (it’s too large for me to call it a “jar” lasted for many months. And even though our daughter had a small spatula to cleanly remove the Cerave for use two or more times a day, as a father and Pharmacist I don’t approve of repeated openings, over time, of a tub of cream. Gosh, besides lint and hair, there can be bacteria floating in the bathroom air that can settle into the tub of cream. When it came time for buying a new tub of Cerave, doesn’t our daughter find this great deal on a tub Cerave: with a dispensing pump! Total satisfaction achieved! Just one more hint: don’t wipe the cream from the spout of the dispenser; pump it onto your fingers or palm. I purchase this for my granddaughter that has Celiac Disease. One of the effects of this condition is dry, itchy red skin. Most lotions burn but this seems to be soothing as well as healing. CeraVe helps her a lot and makes her skin look normal instead of having red sore looking patches. She is a pretty 13 year old girl and feels ashamed of her legs when they get really bad so this is a God send for her. I would recommend that anyone suffering with skin problems as a result of Celiac to give it a try. She likes the pump as it is quicker and easier to use. This is the Holy Grail of moisturizers. You can put on a thin layer under makeup, or a thick layer before bedtime. It evens out skin tone and gives your face a healthy glow. Most moisturizers (even the expensive ones) wind up giving me an oily face, but not this one. Even after a full day my skin looks even, matte, healthy, and well moisturized. I use this on my face wvwry night. I had adult acne for years but after switching from grainy scrubs and harsh drying lotions to a bland oil based cleanser, salicylic acid exfoliant, and this cream at night, I almost never get any breakouts. My skin looks well-hydrated. I also use it on my hands when they are dry, and have used it on my babies/ toddlers when they look dry with good effect. It heals all but the deepest cracks (like over knuckles or heels- I wash my hands a lot due to working in healthcare). The pump helps keep the cream from picking up any bacteria off your hands. The last bit of cream is difficult to get out and I have had to unscrew for that. Read more

It's not a luxury item by any means, but it works well for general everyday use for normal skin that isn't overly dry. It's thick, but absorbs fairly well and isn't greasy. The pump is convenient while the jar is full, but doesn't get to the bottom of the jar. When I had about 1/4 of the product left, I had to unscrew the top for each use to get to the rest of the product, which isn't great if you're concerned about sticking your fingers into the jar. I could use a cosmetic spatula, but it's not practical to do that for each use for 1/4 of the contents of a large jar. I would give this four or five starts if the packaging was a little better. The cream is really good and does it's job well, but while the pump seems to operate correctly it does not pump out the cream. I like the thickness of the cream but it seems to be too thick for the pump to be able to do it's job. I don't like having to open the jar and scoop out what I want. Guess maybe remove the pump and use a spoon??? Perhaps it's just that I got one that is defective? I WANT TO CHANGE MY REVIEW about the pump. I was able to make it work correctly by holding the stem of the pump with plyers and turn the top of the pump while holding the stem still so it wouldn't turn. Now it works correctly but that shouldn't have been necessary so I think I may have been correct in thinking the one I got must have been defective or stuck, and holding it that way was able to get the top to work correctly, and it continues to work correctly. I'm usually not a fan of drug-store skincare products, but I heard someone raving about this and thought I'd give it a try. I am truly amazed. All these years I've been spending a pretty penny on moisturizers that I love, thinking they were the best I'd find for my sensitive skin. But this product has proved me wrong, and got me kicking myself for all that previously wasted money. This moisturizer is the perfect consistency - not too thick, not too runny - and is so gentle on my skin. It locks in the moisture in my skin so I wake up with glowy skin each morning.
