I have been taking SAM-e for the last 10 years, but it is a love/hate relationship as I am too sensitive to it. Name brand pills with dosages greater than 200MG make me too jittery, unfocused and interfere with my sleep. This liquid form factor helped me experiment with different dosages and arrive at the ideal dose (A few drops a day is just enough for me, and that comes to around 15mg). I know this is more expensive than pills, but the convenience of deciding my dosage outweighs the higher cost in my opinion. Before this, I used to struggle with breaking down the pills, and dealing with them going bad (SAM-e pills don't do well when exposed to air). I have suffered from mild to moderate depression most of my life. I have tried many homeopathic things to help with my depression including diet, exercise, mindfulness, aromatherapy just to name a few. Although all of these things are helpful, they just didn't do enough to relieve my depression . I still had days of not wanting to get out of bed, not wanting to talk with or see friends and nights of going to bed as soon as I could and crying myself to sleep. Not a great way to live. I have tried many different prescription medications, always as a last resort, and never stayed on them because of horrendous side effects. I starting feeling like it was hopeless. I have taken Sam-e in pill form off and on and did get some relief but when I tried to up my dosage to over 200mg I got terrible stomach pain and had to stop. After the depression came back in full force and becoming desperate to just be able to function I decided I would order the pills in 400mg and just suffer through the stomach pain. I saw the liquid form of Sam-e, read the reviews and decided to give it a try. I have been taking it in the morning on an empty stomach for about a week now and I am so impressed with the results that I had to write this review in hopes that it may help others who are suffering from this awful disease. This has been very helpful for me, works quickly, within 2 to 3 days and no stomach pain. I am not totally depression free but I would say on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being unbearable sadness I have gone from a 9 to a 4 or 5. I would probably have given it 5 stars but it has only been a week and the one drawback is the packaging. The bottle is hard and it can be a little difficult to get the drops out. I did question if it was working but I think now it does work as well if not better than taking a pill. I do wish they could design a better delivery system since squeezing the plastic bottle makes it hard to know how much is coming out as I hold it over my mouth. So I assume this thick liquid under the tongue somehow magically absorbs the sam-e without losing it's efficacy? I have taken Cellfood Sam-e for years. It gives me energy and lifts my spirits. For me, it's far more effective than capsule forms of Sam-e. I had been out of it for a couple weeks, tried the capsule form again, with no luck. I can't buy the Cellfood brand locally.No wonder it is used as an antidepressant medication in Italy, and probably elsewhere.I was getting very anxious by the time I placed the order, wondering how long I'd have to wait.
