How did they ruin this classic “most popular” fragrance? My family and I have been buying this Jockey Club soap for 50 years. The soap bar has gone from a Cape Cod soft blue to a washed out pale gray-green, the branding on the new bar is not as deeply impressed, and the scent is completely different. It has changed from a wonderful fresh manly fragrance to an old lady distasteful floral smell. Caswell's Jockey Club was created in 1840 and lasted until 2000. I had many bottles, talc and soaps. This new Heritage version bears no resemblance to the original. It is harsh, nasty and mud-centric. An abomination. I put in for an immediate refund and was granted it with no question and no need to return. Obviously, Amazon has had similar reactions. Caswell has sold out to the moderns. Look for their products only in vintage versions on Ebay. Buy nothing new. Read more

This is actually less floral and herbal, and more peppery musk with a powdery background. At times, it reminds me of Polo Green, with its green musky spice, but then the powder surfaces and it falls back to its own accord. Not bad, but I excepted more floral and herbal notes. It’s unbalanced and smells a bit cheap, but then during dry down, the thyme and rose peek out, placing this a step up from drug store solutions. Not Chanel or Creed quality, but better than Jade East quality. The pepper keeps it from being fresh. On a positive note, there’s little sweetness and so it doesn’t become cloying. More of a Spring and Autumn scent... not warm enough for Winter and not fresh enough for Summer. Read more

Caswell & Massy changed their formula for Jockey Club. While they did go back to the original formula, the one they had just a few years ago (modified) was the best. Now the scent is more feminine and is not appealing for a man's soap. Read more

If you are a fan of old-fashioned scents, Jockey Club ranks, in my book, as one of the all-time greats. If you don’t like super clean, “soapy”, or talc-like scents, don’t bother purchasing this soap.All that being stated, being a gentleman who enjoys the finer things in life, Caswell-Massey Jockey Club soap is a toiletry I hope will be in my bath for a very long time.The box arrived immaculately, styled beautifully, and slid open with a graceful glide. Each of the three sea-green colored soaps were wrapped individually and expressed an aesthetically pleasing sheen to the eye only found in a soap of this quality. Each bar was perfectly uniform, stamped beautifully, with a weighty feel.The scent is remarkable and distinctive, Showing masculine florals, West Indian lime, and old-school talcum powder. It comes off fairly strong, so if your lady or significant other objects to obtrusive scents, it may not be a good fit. My lady and I each have our own bathrooms, so I have the luxury of using whichever products I want. She thought the soap smelled a bit strong off the bar, but absolutely loved the way it blended with my chemistry after I got out of the shower. JFK purportedly used the Jockey Club scent frequently and I can understand why now.The lather is bountiful and softly and richly textured. I worried the strength of scent may irritate my sensitive skin, but his is a soap that leaves skin nourished and squeaky clean.Quite simply, this is the soap of stallions and legends! Read more

Waited months to receive this thinking it was out of stock forever. Now that I have it, it smells fantastic. Fresh, clean and light. Excellent size too. Not familiar with the older versions of the scents. This one is a good addition to the product line full of great professional male scents. Read more

Caswell-Massey soaps always smell so nice and do a fine job cleaning. The triple-milled aspect gives it a good lifespan as well so they should each last a while. Sure they're a bit pricey but the quality and longevity make it worthwhile. Some say the current version isn't as good as the previous, but not having tried the previous I really couldn't say.
