I can honestly promise you on my life that in my 13 years of searching for the perfect shampoo that I have never bothered to write a review until this one. This is the best shampoo I have ever tried—I really feel clean after my showers now and I do not see any build up, no matter how much I exercise or products I use. It is definitely water based, but you can tell the difference between this shampoo and the water. It actually feels soothing. It turns into foam immediately without you barely having to touch it, and it’s fun, too! Don’t get me started on the fragrance 😍 the highlight of my days is using this shampoo! Not to mention how it looks much shiner and my hair got its life back after 3 years of miserable greasiness and product buildup! Yes, I have tried every brand you can think of—Organic to drugstore to salon, but none ever worked as beautifully as this shampoo. I have low porosity 4b/4c hair and while in the shower this conditioner worked well even though it has the consistency if vaseline. It was sleek and made my tight coils loosen and smooth out also a nice smell. BUT once out of the shower and once the steam cleared from my mirror I was in shock. My hair looked dull, dry, and frizzy and felt rough to the touch, the exact opposite of how it felt in the shower. This was the first time I had to reapply water to my hair after a shower to complete the "O" from the "L.O.C" system my hair was so dry. This was a lesson to me to read the ingredients before I purchase; the 1st ingredient is glycerin, 2nd ingredient is water, 3rd ingredient is alchohol...enough said. Read more

I give this shampoo a 2 star because it was easy to use and it went directly to my scalp. Otherwise I didn't like it at all. It made my hair very dry and hard, it felt like all my moisture was stripped from my hair. I had to use a Shea Moisture conditioning treatment to add the moisture and softness back to my hair. I won't purchase this product again, but I will keep the bottle to add other shampoo in it. Read more

I LOVE this product!! I hope it stays around forever because no other clarifying shampoos match it for me! It follows the curly girl method and it really takes care of build up. I was always asking my stylists how to clear my dandruff that I had for years, they would tell me that I didn’t have dandruff (and for some reason not explain build up). Finally I realized that the flakes I kept seeing might have been build up, so I looked into taking care of it. A head scrubber alone wasn’t working and neither were the clarifying shampoos. Just ONE use of this product and all of the flakes were gone. Some people complain about the liquid form, but that’s the best part for me because it can flow down my scalp and reach every section before I scrub to make it foam. I love clarifying shampoos and I love that squeaky clean feeling. This however also made my hair feel very brittle and hard after using. I would of course follow up with conditioner+deep conditioner but I didn't like how it made my hair feel. It tangled my hair even though i started on detangled hair which was kind of weird for me. I usually use Tresemme Deep Cleanse but wanted to try something 'natural' and 'curly girl' approved. I wasted ten bucks. I used it once then used it to clean my oil applicator bottles then i gave it away. It's stripping to the point of making my hair feel like straw. Didn't like it. I needed to wash my hair but I didn't want the moisture stripped from my hair. I have waist length locs. I tried this and I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the tip where I was able to apply the product on my scalp. It took a few minutes to foam but keep in mind my hair was dirty. I wouldn't use this alone, I followed up with a moisturizing and deep cleaning shampoo. I used mainly on my scalp and not the rest of my hair. My scalp didn't feel dry. I will continue to use as a pre-poo. Please note this has a scent. The smell didn't bother me but if you're sensitive to smells I would pass on this product. Read more

I have thick, curly hair that was lacking volume and shine lately. I figured I’d try a cleansing shampoo, because I probably had a good amount of build up. I decided on this one, and I am not sorry. This shampoo is AMAZING! I'm not even exaggerating. It feels sooooo good on my scalp! I think that's the best part in my opinion. I love the fact that it doesn't take much. I just put a few drops in certain spots on my head and it lathered completely and fully. You can really feel the cleanliness. It is true that it's not stripping away, and it's doing exactly what it says. When I started my natural hair journey, 10 years ago, I started using Carol's Daughter products.
