It is definitely not what I would consider a chewable vitamin. I got this for my daughter. I can tolerate alot of healthy items. However, I would must definitely not ask my daughter to chew this. You bite into the soft gel capsule and the liquid then goes into your mouth. I attempted to chew the soft gel, but nope. Just spit it out. Wouldn't recommend this as a chewable. Returned this product. It is the brand recommended by our pediatrician, but our 3 year old spit it out as soon as he tried it. Daddy and I each tried one and were shocked that the company would put any positive language on the bottle regarding taste. I purchased these for my 8yo son who is a little picky with foods/flavors. I wasn't sure how he would feel about the gel cap and the fishy tasting oil that "bursts" in your mouth when you bite the gel cap. I tried them first (without him watching) and couldn't help making a face with the taste of the fish oil. And the gel coating feels like a piece of plastic left over afterward. I spit that part out.Then I gave him one of "his new vitamins!" And he apprehensively chewed on one. Well his face was worse than mine and he wanted to spit it out right away. He spit the gel coating out and I gave him some OJ to wash the taste down. I told him it was okay to spit the coating out aftrr getting the oil out the next time. He then tried a second one with OJ in his mouth at the same time and said that wasn't too bad. About an hour later he told me he could "feel that vitamin in his belly still". I think he was burping the taste so we decided to take them at bedtime the next time. So last night he chewed 2 gel caps while drinking OJ at the same time and then spit out the coatings and he said "it was actually kind of fun". No complaints this morning about burping or an aftertaste.The amount of fish oil that these contain is higher than other children's vitamins and I plan on giving 2 a day to get the recommended amount of at least 1000mg total and hope that it will help him in school....only time will tell on that one.Bottome line. ...so far so good, I would recommend to others. These are non gummy fish oil pills that can be chewed. They are gel capsules that can be chewed and they will pop and the oil with come out. My son loves chewing them so they pop. He is 5 and has been taking fish oil since a baby. When he was 3 I found these. I couldn’t find them in stores for a while and noticed a big difference in his attitude and behavior. He was angrier and more hyper. Once I found these on Amazon I was thrilled and he is less hyper when taking these. Carlson labs is a good company with high quality products. I really like that this is a one a day tablet as opposed to other DHA tablets that need to be taken 4 times a day. Its great that they are chewable. The orange flavor is very mild but my kids like it. Only thing is that the outside of the capsule is kinda hard to chew after it pops open. Sometimes my kids just pop them open in their mouth and then spit out the outside of the capsule because it's hard to chew it. Read more
