If your dog isn't possessed by satan or is not smart (or super lazy with no desire for freedom), it's great. My dog, however, laughs in the face of desired confinement and has found every single loophole available. Granted, it took her a few months to find all of the said loopholes. If you think your pet would try any of the following, please reconsider:1. The red stopper that holds the handle in place is laughable. It slides very simply and my dog even looked at me as if saying "lol, that's cute."2. The cat door with knob that requires it to be pulled out before the door will open. Now this took her a few days, but alas, a 55lb dog will squeeze her body through that little hole and make you question every single bit of math you've learned throughout life and debunk the saying that you can't fit ten gallons of water in a five gallon bucket. Electrical tape will only work for a short period of time before your dog decides it would make a good snack and requires it being held shut with 5 industrial zip ties.3. With enough pressure, the bottom of the gate can be pushed out enough for a highly determined dog to escape. The use of a vice grip is suggested, but only has about a 72% success rate, especially if not applied at an exact 62° angle.4. You may think a combined use of a cable wire bike lock with four digit combo lock would solve that problem. Well, you'd be right. For all of 20 minutes.5. You must be thinking that with all of these combined measures that surely an animal that that spends her recreational time eating cat crap snacks and chases her own tail wouldn't be able to figure out pressure mounted pressure points and the plastic threaded caps that hold it in place. You would be very wrong.Any of the following may result in your dog eating three comforters, a book, multiple towels, a box of Kleenex, paint rollers, two sets of blinds, three dog beds, a few shoes, and a hospital equipment manual for your new job. If your dog is in the habit of doing any of the above, please save your money and just pay for the exorcism up front. Read more

This is a nice gate and is pretty easy to open. Only goes one direction due to a stopper on the bottom. The cat door is too big and my 23lb Schnauzer’s can get through so I modify it with a $2 pipe clamp and some zip-ties. I also zip-tie the cat-door open. It keeps my dogs out of the cat food! For the most part I love this gate. We purchased it to keep the dogs out of the laundry room but to still allow the cats in to get to their food and litter box. Unfortunately our dog Cocoa (see pic) even though she is pretty big is able to fit through the cat door opening and frequently gets in and eats all the cat's food... I solved this with a wooden dowel across the opening and zip ties to hold it in place. If the cat door was slightly smaller I would give it 5 stars. My two cats have always had free range of the house until recently, when they began waking me up in the early hours of the morning. Closing the bedroom door didn't solve the problem since they would scratch at the door and meow/cry to be let in. I purchased the tallest pet gate I could find (Carlson 41-Inch Extra Tall Pet Gate) and cordoned off the hallway leading to the bedrooms. I worried my cats would simply jump over it (they can clear 41 inches), but for whatever reason, they are deterred. So, I am thrilled with the results!One aspect to consider is the width of your doorway. The extension that came included with this product was too wide for my 35 inch hallway. I had to purchase the 4-inch wide extension kit separately. On the other hand, I'm glad they sell multiple sizes to accommodate different sized doorways. I am so happy to be sleeping again that I don't mind the extra cost!Wall protection: I have baseboards in my hallway that interfered with the bottom pressure mounts. I simply placed a "super slider" furniture pad between the mount and the baseboard. For the top mounts, I used baby gate wall guard pads to protect the wall. No issues, works great!Tip about sizing: My hallway is 35 inches wide, and a little narrower on the bottom because of the baseboards. The original gate fits an opening of 29-34 inches. A 6 inch extension is included, making the gate plus extension fit a 35-40 inch opening. The baseboards in my hallway decrease the opening by 1-2 inches. For me, this meant the original gate was not wide enough to cover the area, and the 6 inch extension was too wide. The installation was not difficult and only required a Phillips head screwdriver . I will however have to do some patch work on the drywall if I ever remove the gates but that is small consequence considering I am keeping my dogs safe and confined to one area of the house when I am away . It is very sturdy material as a matter of fact I shopped around for a dog gate for quite some time and this was the best I found . I paid over $250 for the very large dog kennel I have , however my dogs are distressed when they are put in the kennel . This is absolutely perfect better than a kennel. I have to gorgeous 40 + pound female boxers and they behave so much better in my galley kitchen then being kenneled. Because my two baby girls tend to get into trouble when they have free reign of the house we have a long Galley kitchen with two entries and installed two of these Gates one at each end of the kitchen which gives my dog's plenty of room to move around, allows them to be together and confine them to a room that there's not a lot of damage they can do. Although I'm quite sure if they got a running start both of my dogs could clear the height of these Gates neither one of them have tried. The media could not be loaded.  I have two of these gates. One to keep the dogs out of the guest bedroom where the cat sleeps and one to keep the dogs out of basement where the litter box is. They are quite sturdy but I am sure if my dogs rammed it, the gate would pop off where I have them. I do not have the extra cups installed on the door frames though and that may improve stability in case of a dog charging.The gate is quite smooth to open and close and convenient if you are carrying things as you pass through the gate. The colour is also quite nice and goes with anything.As of yet, neither of my dogs can jump the gate. However, we recently discovered our Aussie Shepherd cross can fit through the little pet/cat door. Thankfully he only does this if he is ill and sneaks to the basement to go to the bathroom. Our Belgian Shepherd cross cannot fit through the cat door, and he is more likely to eat the litter box contents, so a success there.Our Aussie Shepherd is approximately 23 inches tall and 48 lbs and quite smart. If your dog is of similar stats or smaller, they may be able to get through the little door as well. Read more

Great product!! Sturdy, easy to install.I have only One Concern... The description for the pet door for Model # 0941 PW.States 10" Tall x 7" Wide. Its actually 8" x 8". It wouldn't matter too much for the average cat or small dogs under 15lbs, maybe even 20lbs. My issue is that I ordered for my Tall Cats, one of which is 20lbs. He's on a diet, but hes still tall so he will have to ducking low and squeezing through the small door. I'm hoping that he will actually be able to use the door. I have several small children and the gate is for a basement door to their litter box.We live in an old 1910 house and was able to make this work! Read more

J'ai choisi ce portail car mon chien chie toujours au sous-sol et bouffe la marde des chats! Cest cru mais c'est ça! Hauteur parfaite contre mon husky! Je croyais que les chats seraient coincés dans la petite porte mais aucun problème pour passer finalement. Il y a des fixation pour visser la garde dans le mur et mon chien n'a pas encore démystifié le tout pour pouvoir arracher la garde donc un bon point de plus. Elle est en métal de bonne qualité. Installing was relatively quick and simple. This companies definition of ‘Extra Tall’ is only 36”, while I found most other ‘Extra Tall’ gates were 41” tall. This wasn’t an issue for me but I wouldn’t have minded if it had been taller as it was purchased to keep my dog out.There is also no way to make sure the small door remains open. I had to tie it back to make sure my cats did not get locked in/out of the litter room. Other than that it looks great, and is extremely sturdy, and most of all the price was reasonable ($58) Will be purchasing more in the future! Read more
