This gate is nice but I also see limitations on its use if the opening has unique baseboard trim and/or isn’t sized to line up with the grate spacing.First let me talk about packaging. Box was sturdy and gate was bagged with hardware and plastic feet in another cardboard insert.Four feet pieces (2 pairs of identical items) and 12 screws (plus instructions and warranty card) are all you have to worry about. Only thing needed to assemble is a Phillips head screwdriver (#2 worked for me). Feet need a little holding and pressing while screwing the outer screws in but the pieces line up fine. Do not over screw (and a screw gun is overkill) as you are screwing into plastic and you will strip it easily!Once feet are assembled, unlatch the gate latches (4 of them) and widen the gate a little to give yourself proper room to secure the feet to the gate. Two screws per side and you are ready to place. Here is the limitation, those latches do not click fully if there is a vertical bar of the grate anywhere in the width of the plastic on the latch. If spacing is off and it is close, there is a little wiggle room to get the grate to align and allow you to click it. I can see why some people say it’s unusable for them due to this limitation and there is really no good way I can see to know in advance if it will work or not for you.All in all, it worked for me to keep my four little beasts from the front door and carpeted dining room (which the puppy thinks is outside and poops in there if we aren’t watching her).To gain access to the space, we simple pivot it out of the way. I could step over it but my wife cannot (28” high version).I included pics of the little wings meant to keep the gate aligned against the wall and prevent the pets from pushing it into the area you don’t want them to be in and you can see our unique baseboards that still works but leaves a little “working” room on the sides that a bored/smart pet could overcome if they were really determined. Works great! I bought this because I didnt want a permanent gate attached. So far the dogs haven't been able to push it because of the stoppers. My doorway is 52" Read more

Amazon did a great job getting this to me on the same day. The issue is the Amazon description says it’s 40-70 inches width, but the box says 38-60. It was too short for the space. The gate seems very sturdy and comes with feet that screw into the gate. It comes partially assembled. You have to add the feet. Read more

I have a Shorkie who loves sitting out on the porch to people and dog watch, but he recently learned how to get over the short barrier I originally had blocking the porch entrance. It was time for a gate, but I wasn't sure what to get since I have a brick porch that I can't easily drill anything into. Then I found this gate that doesn't need to attach to anything and adjusts to fit extra wide spaces (perfect for my porch with an entrance of about 70 inches). It took me about five minutes to put together and is super easy to lengthen and shorten to fit the space. It keeps my dog on the porch, safe and secure, while still letting him peek through to watch. It's perfect. Read more

I was looking for a decorative pet gate to separate my "no dog" zone from our Golden Retriever. We had a standard metal pet gate up and it screamed "ugly" for indoor use in our dining/living room space. Our big dog is trained to respect the gate, but I wanted something more decorative in our mostly wood decor. The space I needed to have gates was extra wide (125") so I was having trouble finding the right gate combining width and decor. When I found these gates, I decided to get two so the entire opening was covered when the gates are fully extended. I decided to keep one side "locked", and the other gate "movable" (even though the gate is not intended to slide open/shut). These gates work great! It's not perfect because the open/shut gate needs to be held with both hands for this operation to work, but I love the way it looks and I'm happy to walk over the gate (another feature I was looking for!) if I don't want to mess with the open/shut operation. I'm 5'4" and it's not a problem for me to do this. The wood is very nice looking and I love the dark metal grating...very classy. So much better than the metal doggie gate! Highly recommend. This gate has good and bad qualities...Pro: The gate part is nicely made and looks really nice. It's high enough that my Boston Terrier can't jump over it. The price is very reasonable in my opinion. It's not real bulky and heavy. Easy to adjust width.CONS: It comes with cheap plastic feet that you screw together and then screw into the "ends" of the gate. There is a lip that sticks out about 3" that is supposed to go up against the wall so the dog can't "Push" the gate open. Well that doesn't happen if you have floor shoe molding. So there is quite a gap of about 2" or more for the dog to get his nose in and can manipulate the gate away from the wall.... very easy! I would think the feet would work better if they were placed further in on the gate so the gate can be placed up against the wall and you can wedge with something heavy. There are feet you can buy separate. I haven't looked to see if they will fit this gate. If they do, that would be the configuration I would go with. Read more

I think it will serve its purpose. We got it to keep our 3 month old puppy in the living room when she has plat time. The dog you see in the picture is our older dog who is not very fond of the puppy, so it separates the two of them when need be. I will say that the assembly, while I initially thought was easy when I got started, it got to be difficult when I tried to lock it. You need to make sure that your gate is locked in place BEFORE you put the legs on. Otherwise, you will not be able to line the pieces up to lock them. I probably spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to line them up, only to realize it's only going to work by taking the legs off so that you can slide the pieces together to lock them. Then you can put the legs on. Then very carefully open it to the distance you need, keeping very close attention to not separate the panels, and then lock it in place. Read more

First off I am writing my review after purchasing a second gate. So that should give you an idea on how much I loved this product. We mainly use ours to block out stairs on the upper level, but we were moving this gate around a lot so time for #2. We have a new rescue who likes to scratch the floor to ceiling window we have. Replacing this would be a major expense so we are going to use this gate to keep him away from the window. This is a sturdy unit we have had up to 3 very energetic hunting dogs in our home and it has stood up extremely well over the years. We let the dogs watch squirrel TV on YouTube so we use this to keep them back from the TV it keeps my dogs from jumping at the screen. If they do jump they won’t be close enough to damage anything.I give these gates 5 out of 5. I highly recommend them. Read more

This has an attractive wood grain finish and is easy to assemble and install. It's also very portable and can be adjusted to fit a variety of openings. But that portability and lack of a need for mounting hardware comes at a price. Our mid-sized dog, which has never met a door she doesn't want to open, very quickly learned that she could stick her nose around the end of the gate and push it open. In one doorway, which has grooves where there used to be French doors, we have been able to jam the ends of the gate into those grooves, which seems to work. I also placed a dining-room chair against the dog's side of the gate, and the extra weight and inertia was too much for her nose to overcome. A very good product nonetheless. Read more

0 stars. Cannot understand all these good reviews for the life of me. This thing is terrible quality - it fell apart almost immediately. It will not stay together no matter what I do - gorilla glue can’t even save it. Anytime we go to move it ever so slightly, it all breaks apart. Total safety hazard as it can easily crash down on a child or pet. Straight to the garbage it goes. Absolute waste of money. Read more

Read more
