I really wanted the metal backed guard since they stay on better, but my hearth is too wide at 108”. While this is more than other stick-on foam guards, it seems a lot more protective. Many of the others show the foam in a coil: you couldn’t roll this up if you tried due to the density, so it comes as a few straight sections and corner pieces, which to me seems better quality and more protective than something that could easily be rolled up. The stone that we have are uneven so the adhesive didn’t really work that well. I have put it together with a glue gun and hope it stays on more. You can still see the seams and there’s one piece where it’s different from the rest. *see pic*. Overall, it does what it’s supposed to do unless my toddler rips it off which can be done so easily. First things first, this product has already done its job. My little granddaughter took a header and bonked her head on my fireplace. The cushion saved the day, she is fine. The product is easy to cut, looks nice, and provides peace of mind. My only complaint is, it could stick better than it does, I am considering buying a roll of double-back tape to keep it in place. Product easy to cut with a razor knife, a little practice to make cuts square, but that is not a product issue. More a user issue. I cleaned the brick with a shop vac before attaching and even though a rough surface brick it stuck real well. Each piece I gently pressed down, then leaned against the face of it, and then walked on the top surface. It has been over a month a not a hint of a sticking issue. If it does come loose, the same 3M double sided tape is readily available to re-apply.I had just cringed watching my daughter's one year old play or walk near the corners of the hearth. We bought this because we just moved into a house that has a fireplace and we have a 2yr old. We wanted to cover the corners of the fireplace and well we thought this would work and with the price tag of just about $80 thought it would work. Sadly it doesn't stick what so ever, we were extremely disappointed to see that only 2hrs after placing them onto the corners, they just fell right off. I bought these to keep our new Grand Daughter safe. Many years ago our daughter was learning to walk, fell and hit her forehead on our fireplace hearth resulting in 60 stitches! Bought this after my child ran into our stone fireplace and cut up their leg. Yikes! Easy to cut with an exacting knife and put on the fireplace. The adhesive makes it stick on my stone. Does the job and the grey color blends in great so it’s not super tacky. Overall great product! Read more
