My daughter and I swim in a team pool that is chlorinated. The pH of the pool is well balanced so neither of us get green hair, so I can't comment on its effectiveness there. But, even after rinsing, we both still smell like chlorine after swimming. This shampoo and body wash gets rid of the smell AND the associated dry skin feeling gently. I can wash my face in it after lap swim and drive home without moisturizer. It also helps my daughters hair not turn into crunchy straw. We also use it on the boat and it lathers in salt water.What it doesn't do so well: I have thick long hair. This does not lather like conventional shampoo. It does not get my hair squeaky clean like conventional shampoo. It also doesn't dry my hair, irritate my scalp, and require lots of conditioner like a conventional shampoo. It allows me to have a quick solution after swimming so that my hair can last longer between deep washes and conditions.If you are a grown-up with a lot of hair expecting something like you are accustomed to, this will disappoint. Just started swimming for physical therapy and was concerned about chlorine. This was the only chlorine-removing shampoo/body wash I could find that wasn't full of chemicals and didn't cost a million dollars. Don't smell any chlorine in my hair after using it and mostly don't smell it on my skin, but I think I don't always get the soap everywhere. It doesn't lather as much as others do and so coverage requires a bit more attention. I always seem to miss my hands and my shoulders!So far, no damage to my fine hair or drying out my skin. I use a very moisturizing conditioner for my hair and coconut oil on my skin after, which I think also helps. I wouldn't recommend using this without moisturizing. Read more

I am in highly chlorinated water each week for about four to eight hours and have tried all the big names in chlorine removal/neutralizer products. This is the only one that does not have sodium laurel sulfate (SLS), which dries my hair worse than chlorine. SLS is an additive that makes things foam and suds up. The majority of Americans have been conditioned (pun intended) that suds are an indication of cleaning effectiveness. This is where the confusion occurs in many of the reviews. Good product. Smells good. Rinses easily. Doesn't seem to sting the kids' eyes. Does what it is supposed to do! Lost 1 star due to packaging. They use the THICKEST, HARDEST plastic to make this bottle. I literally can't squeeze the product out. I have to unscrew the cap and dump. Annoying for me, as I try and bathe 2 toddlers at once. And, bad for the environment. Think of the way bottled water companies now make super thin, soft, and flimsy bottles in an effort to use less plastic. I started buying this when my first son was about 1, he had recurrent ear infections and was on antibiotics for almost 3 months straight! The antibioitics caused a really bad diaper rash! This soap soothes his skin and he healed very quickly! We continue to use this for both of our sons now! No need for lotion after using this soap, both boys have super soft skin! So far, so good...Had to stop using my other shampoo, I was actually breaking out on my scalp and saw this, decided to give it a try...Very gentle, doesn't feel oily after you rinse, but it also doesn't feel like your hair is straw...And soft! My hair is African-American curly and I was nicely suprised at how easy it was to detangle my hair and get on with the drying and styling...I think I would give this a good recommend. Read more

The smell is fantastic and it works great. There is no residue left behind. My daughter has suffered from dandruff and an itchy scalp for the last year and this shampoo worked wonders.
