I bought this product for myself, not for a baby. It is very thick and white, so I will not be putting it on my face any more. It looks like it has zinc oxide in it, because that comes out very white, but the ingredient is (I think it's called) titanium dioxide, which I believe is considered by dermatologists to be a good blocking sunscreen. I am giving it five stars because most people don't mind putting white stuff on a baby if it's going to protect them, and THIS COMPANY'S PRODUCTS ARE GREAT!!! Among other ingredients in this are lemongrass and cedar, and both of these are very effective at repelling mosquitoes and other biting insects. So not only are you protecting your baby from the sun's harmful rays, you are protecting him or her from getting bitten! I lived in Central America and I was constantly getting bitten and had to start using the stuff with DEET in it because I had scabs and welts all over me. Then I tried some California Baby lotion that wasn't even specifically for repelling insects, and it worked AS WELL AS THE DEET!!!! I would guess that perhaps it needs to be applied more often, but I keep that lotion on hand and put it on every time I go out because where I live I get bitten too. I can not say enough good things about this company's ingredients and how effective they are at repelling insects. The only 2 negatives about this particular product is how chalky white my face was (but I am not a baby, who does not care about that stuff), and the lack of friendliness that I felt when I contacted the company. Otherwise, five stars all the way!!! And by the way I did not get sunburned! I’ve been using this brand for 14 years, used it all over the world (even Australia), for me, my husband, my babies and now teenagers. It is the only thing that protects our skin. And it doesn’t get into my daughters eyes like other sunscreens. My kids still complain about the thick white cream, but it’s worth it for the great protection! Read more

The Summer Blend version of this sunscreen has a strong lemongrass fragrance. It smells like bug spray. It really irritates my toddler and he rubs at his eyes constantly if I use it. The regular unscented version is fantastic and we've been using it for years now on our older son, skip this and go for that one instead. Read more

This stuff works well and is highly rated. Our sons are mixed race. On our paler son, this stuff isn't visible. Our son with very dark skin ends up looking an odd shade...bluish or purplish. If he was any older, his peers would make fun of him. Read more

This brand of sunscreen was recommended by my dermatologist as a good brand to use for sensitive skin, protects well, and good to use everyday. I do not wear make-up, and so when I applied it, I felt like a clown. It absorbed in well, but it felt like I had an invisible mask on. It coated well, and I am sure would have held up well all day in the sun, but seemed to give an unnatural shine to my skin..
