I've been using this since my son was born 8 years ago, for both of us. First, it's not toxic like many other products. It's a barrier sunblock. Second, it really really works. I have never ever gotten a burn while wearing this, and my son has never in his 8 years experienced a sunburn thanks to this product. The downside is that it's a little harder to rub in than regular sunblocks, but that doesn't bother me much. It does rub in eventually, even to adult satisfaction. You also have to be careful because it's white until rubbed in and will get on clothing. It comes out in the wash, though. It has not permanently stained any of my swimsuits. I also wear this for sports outdoors when I sweat a lot, and it has never stung my eyes. It also doesn't come off in the pool - I don't reapply, and still don't get burned, and neither does my son even though I only put it on him in the morning and sometimes he's at camp in the pool all day. I purchased this sunscreen for my 4 year old who has extremely sensitive skin. Most sunscreens from Walgreens, etc. give her a slight rash. I bought this one in hopes that it wouldn't. I was disappointed that she had just as many bumps and rashes as with regular sunscreen bought from the store which is about a third of the cost.On top of it not being more gentle, it made her look sickly. When rubbed in, it gives a bluish/purple and shiny appearance which was commented on by many people who are around her a lot. They asked if she was feeling ok and why her skin was a strange color. I ended up returning because it is a heavy price tag for sunscreen that isn't more gentle and turns skin ghostly looking. Read more

This is by far the best sunscreen I have ever purchased. I have kids who are allergic to sunscreen. Their eyes itch/burn/run and so does their nose. They look like they have a bad cold every time I was putting on sunscreen. I couldn't figure out what was happening (this happened with every brand, I tried them all out there)until my sister in law turned me on to California Baby. This sunscreen not only, works REALLY WELL but doesn't irritate them. It is also very low on the EWG list of harmful sunscreens (i think it is rated a 1 or 2) I have been using it for years now. This is the ONLY brand that is in our house. We call it "Liquid Gold". It is costly, but it is worth the money. To have the kids be able to play in the sun without worry is so nice. We have been to the beach many time with it and they get NO TAN! Actually, none of us get red. I missed a few spots on my back with the sunscreen and was on the beach. By the time we went home, I had Huge red marks from the spots that I missed with sunscreen, but the other places that got the sunscreen had nothing. I actually had an outline from where my fingers missed! It really blocks the sun. I am so happy and thankful, there is a company out there that actually cares about my kids. Don't let the name fool you... this stuff isn't just for babies! Our entire family uses this Sunscreen and we never get burnt (unless someone claims to have put enough on, but didn't really!). Stop using the chemical filled sprays... a tiny tinge of white for a few hours is better than skin cancer later in life! Read more

I have been using this product on my children for over 10 years. It is the BEST sunscreen for protection. It has a thicker consistency and definitely goes on white. It leaves a white sheen on the skin, that no one likes. However, my children are always protected and have never received a sunburn while using this product as directed. Whenever we try other products (even with SPF of 70), they always seem to get too much sun on their faces and it runs into their eyes. This stuff has staying power. My children say that this is the only sunscreen they have ever used that doesn't run into their eyes or sting when they are at the beach or pool. First off, this tiny tiny tube is extremely expensive (no matter what the price and who sells it as it always come up to 20 bucks a pop due to shipping). I think I am regulated to just use it on my face and use some so-so sunscreen on the rest of my body, no way this stuff is economically valuable for a family. You'll go bankrupt.Anyways for you rich folk out there, this stuff is fantastic. Goes on super easy and absorbs just as well with minimal to non-existent white layer left over. That or I am not applying enough. I have no qualms with application. I would already assuming this is highly rated according to EWG in terms of non-cancer causing chemicals. Well, a little bit of this stuff goes along way as far. Very thick consistency, lasts about normal amount of time before it's time to re-applly. I found this sunscreen on the EWG's e-mail newsletter on safe sunscreens. I was used to the big name, max SPF rating's but the EWG site told me I should be far more aware of the ingredients of the suncreen and the potential health hazard they pose. This ranked very high as far as minimal chemical absorption through skin and risk for hormone disruption is also lowered with the use of this suncreen. Highly recommended! Given its ingredients, it does leave a rather painted finish but it is safe and effective for my little one with sensitive skins (around 1 year when we used it). We had a great beach holiday. Recommend to apply from time to time to ensure the best effect. Read more

I bought this product because it was chemical free after having read up on the nasties placed in standard sun protection. It's true that it's not as absorbent as some of the spray ons but for me that demonstrated its function as a barrier. One tube lasted a full year living overseas in a hot climate for my son's first year and he hasn't been burnt once. I also used in on my face and liked the non chemically smell. After trying boots baby suncream and my baby getting spots on his face from it, I researched what others use and came across this a lot of the time. It is very pricey but given this is England where you can count sunny days on two hands and that a baby is small, I thought I should make the investment. So far so good. Baby didn't get burnt (keeping him out of the sun helps too) and his skin didn't end up spotty. The reason for 4 stars only is that it doesn't feel that nice in the hands and is quite sticky. The other reason, it leaves you looking like a ghost unless you vigorously rub it in for quite some time. Read more
