I have been using this product for two years now, and it has saved the lives of several of my alley cats that are afflicted with severe feline herpes. I use about 1Kg a month, and add it to their food and water daily. I also have had canker sores most of my life until I started taking lycine too. The powder mixes very well with water and juice, and is almost tasteless. I don't take it daily, but if I feel a canker sore coming on, I will drink a couple glasses of juice with a teaspoon of this lycine mixed in, and next day the canker is gone. We use Lysine as an anti-viral immune booster. Lysine has been shown to inhibit/interfere with the replicatory process of viruses. It is not a catch all however I have had cold sores all my life and was taking Valtrex at the onset of a coldsore. Valtrex is hard on the liver but it did help. 3gms of valtrex in AM and again PM and after about 4-5 days the coldsore would be fading. If I didn't catch it early enough it always took about 2 weeks to get rid off.I accidentally discovered the research on Lysine as an anti-viral many years ago and have been very pleased. I take 3-4gms two-three times per day at the onset/notice of a cold sore and if I catch it early enough, that first tingle, it never blooms and I'm fine. If I don't catch it early enough I can still load up on the Lysine and it is gone within a few days.I have also noticed this anti-viral benefit during cold/flu season. I was given some of this powder by a friend who had had cancer and who used this with green tea, graviola and ascorbal palmitate to get rid of his cancer. He had a bit left over, so gave it to me to help my cancer, which I'd had repeatedly before that. I use the manufacturer's recommended amount daily. I regularly treat people with viruses & this is what I think of as my "quick, easy virus protectant". If I'm diligent & I take it as recommended, I do not get cold sores, sore throats, ear aches, or sinusitis even when in direct contact with people who are sick. Wow, I took L-Lysine HCL Powder as a nutritional supplement and it cured my sleep issues! I have to wake up a lot these days at night to use the bathroom and tried lysine as a nutritional supplement and to my shock it cured my sleep issues. Yes I still wake up but only once a night and I pee like a 18 year old again. What the heck? I tried this twice now and both times it worked. I know too much of this stuff can create kidney issues but I have read that low doses of 1/4 a teaspoon is safe. I am still in shock that this worked. I will do a follow-up after a couple weeks. Wow! I decided to try this supplement because I was previously using Lysine in pill form and had to take two horse capsules! That plus all my other vitamins were just too much.
