I got a bridge on my upper molars about 6 months ago. At the time, the hygienist made the flossing sound so simple. She even demonstrated. She did not use a threader. However, when I got home and tried it, I discovered my mouth is way too small to even see where to place the floss on the bridge, let alone thread it through. This made me nervous, I knew I had to figure out a way to floss there. I went to the (large) corner drugstore. I picked one of each rule of threaded and floss. To be honest there weren't a lot of choices. And after hours of frustration in front of the bathroom mirror, I gave up. There was just no way to get a little string threaded into such a tight space. I got out my water pik to use until I could solve this problem. I got online and began to search. At this point I was willing to try anything. I finally ran across these Naslund Bridge Aid Theaters. I couldn't imagine anything made of plastic accomplishing this feat (surely they would be too thick) but they weren't very expensive so I ordered some. They were delivered very quickly and in fine condition. I really liked the limited amount of packaging they used. No plastic bags, just small paper envelopes with several threaders in each. I gave it a try immediately using standard, thin, waxed floss. The threaded is curved in such a way and is just the right length, I was able to "find" the space between bridge and gum with the tip and with a few short wiggles, it threaded right through! I was thrilled. Mission Accomplished! I highly recommend these simple but perfectly designed flossing aides for anyone who has bridge work. Read more
These are GREAT! I am enthusiastically endorsing these little wonders and recommend them highly. I just got a permanent bridge and was frankly intimidated by the idea of keeping my gums healthy underneath it, using the little threader I got from my dentist. I tossed it and began the hunt for something sturdy and long enough for me to get my fingers in my mouth and grasp the end of the threader easily. I tried the little skinny ones from the drug store that made oh so many, many false promises...then I tried the "super floss" with one stiff end that made me wish for better days. Using both of these loser products, gagging on them is once too often. I ran across these beauties and am just thrilled with them! I especially love that they're slightly curved which fits the natural inclination of teeth to gums, and I can find the end of the bridge easily from either end without a mirror. Get these. Get a lot of these. Read more
I have permanent retainers. I've been working on my periodontal health that I have neglected in the past. The dentist suggested i get these to help floss under and in between my retainers. These are AWFUL. They are flat and sharp. Trying to pull these through my teeth at the gum line was just slicing my gums like a knife! II have attached a photo, these are on the left. the ones on the right are how they SHOULD be.DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE. Pay more for the good ones and your mouth with thank you! Read more
The large loop versions do not hold up as well. I had this style in the past, but had difficulty finding them. My mother-in-law really hated the large loop style and found them insulting--"do they think we old people can't see?" Also unable to find this smaller eye style, she expressed her frustration to me and, at the time, I had a good supply of the small eye style and told her I'd trade her for the large loop style. I did not find the large loop style as annoying as she did, but did notice that, although they were easier to thread with floss, they split easily and had to be replaced more often than the small eye style. For years I was only able to get the large loop style in grocery stores and pharmacies, but stayed on the lookout. I jumped on them right away when I saw them on Amazon. Just one of these, if rinsed after use with soap and water, will last a very long time. I still use the large loop style since I have them, but I've gone through three or four of those already and am still have not gone through even one of the small eye still. Read more
I have a permanent retainer behing my bottom teeth and have to use threaders to floss. These are too thick to fit between my tooth and the retainer and too wide to fit between my teeth. Not sure what else you can use them for when they are too big. I do not recommend buying these if you have a similar retainer Read more
I don't usually go out of my way to write a review unless asked to but felt maybe this would help someone decide on their purchase. I just received these floss threaders in the mail and yes the tip is narrow but the threader itself is much thicker than ones I purchased at the drug store. They are so thick I couldn't get it through my upper bridgework in the back and was afraid if I forced it these would cut into my gum. The threaders at the drugstore are much much thinner and flow through the bridgework with ease. Read more
These aren't easy to find locally and, in my opinion, are far superior to the more common variety that are considerably longer, and much more like light gauge monofilament. These, on the other hand, are shorter, stiffer, and have a small eyelet that makes it easier to retain the floss that you've inserted, while you are threading this item between your teeth. Another advantage of the compactness of these threaders is that it makes it relatively easy to store them with your floss dispenser. Once I've used it, I simply poke the non-eyelet end into the slot where the floss is dispensed , and close the lid. YMMV, depending on what sort of floss you use. That's the sort of thing often referred to as a "lifehack" these days. That being said, I honestly don't remember (threw away the original packaging and moved them all to a small ziploc) if the manufacturer claims they should only be used once, or not. That would be exorbitant in my mind, and I would think as long as they are kept clean, you should be able to use one for it's full lifespan. The eyelet will eventually break but, in my experience, that takes weeks or months....and I have a tight spot to thread through. When I last looked, this was also available in a larger quantity, in a small canister/jar. Your dental hygienist will thank you every six months. Read more
Nice product ! almost the same as the other one selling half cheaper ... comes with only the threader. No floss thread.I bought both these to compare and write a review so that it may be easy on the pockets of newer customers. Dent aids Stim threader comes with floss roll and is almost the same , but cheaper by half ! This more expensive product is only slightly better in quality than the cheaper one. A few mm shorter, a few microns lesser in diameter.. but almost the same! Read more
Because these are for my own personal use, I rinse after and use again. It would be great to eventually have an environmentally and compost-friendly, non-plastic version. In the meantime, they work as described and get into the places necessary around bridgework. Read more
