I’ve got fine hair that has been gradually thinning since puberty. I’ve tried every brand of brunette dry shampoo I could find to cover my scalp and give my hair volume. Eventually I found Toppik hair building fibers and loved the concept but did not appreciate the product. I found Boost N Blend as I was browsing thin hair related hashtags on Instagram and gave it a shot at the recommendation of a particular user. For about 10 months now, I’ve been strictly using Boost N Blend for the thin and flat hair on top of my head. No foul smell, doesn’t leave any residue on my hands, clothes, or pillow. It’s a breeze to apply. It looks and feels great. One day I went to work without any of this product in my hair and multiple people told me they had no idea I had thin hair and they were totally surprised to see the difference without the product.I once got pretty mad at Boost N Blend’s customer service and still, I knew 100% that I was going to keep using this product no matter what they could ever do to make me mad. They could double the price and I’d still buy it.I should add that their customer service was ultimately very graceful in addressing my frustration and I’m actually really glad to be their customer. I think this product works as advertised, but it is key to have a shade that blends properly with your hair. The light silver grey matches my silver hair very well (I first tried medium silver grey and it was way too dark, almost black looking). It does work pretty effectively to cover my scalp through thinning hair, and that makes me feel much less self-conscious.. I usually also use a texturizing powder and/or a little bit of hairspray to help keep it in place. I have tried only one other hair fiber type product so far and I think this works better, but that might partially be because the other product wasn't a great color match for my hair. I do think it is pretty expensive for what you get. Also, I really don't like the packaging - it is a sealed shaker can that you can't open, so it is really hard to tell when it is all gone. When packed in luggage while traveling, there is a tendency for a lot of powder to fall into the cap if the bag isn't upright, and then it is impossible to get it back in the can. The can is also supposed to be recyclable but I have my doubts. I would much prefer a refillable package that was easy to open and see into, which might cut the cost down a bit. So, in sum, I am pretty happy with it and continue to use it (for about 18 months now), but I'm still looking for the perfect product. Read more
I've seen LOTS of great reviews out here on different products and I try my best to formulate my decisions based on those reviews. I am a male who has a balding crown and of course the top of my head to my forehead basically looks bald, especially in pictures. For the past year and a 1/2 I've been using a product called Gray Away, which is essentially a spray on dye that can look like you spray painted your scalp if in the right lighting. For over the year and a 1/2, my self-esteem has been so low and I'm always cautious to never let anyone stand behind me or over me. I'm always worried about who is starring at my hair and why. This last New Years, I was sitting at the table and my girlfriend's daughter says out loud "Is your head painted brown". WOW, how humiliating that was. I thought that for over a year and a 1/2 I've gotten away with the Gray Away and I quickly realized, if a 14 year old can notice that, I'm sure others have too. I explained it away that I've been using Rogain a lot and have been dying my hair and I may not have washed all of the dye out this time. This put me on a path of figuring out how to actually make it look like I have hair. So for the past 2 months I've tried Caboki, Toppik, Xfusion (which is also Toppik), and then Nanogen. At first when using the Caboki, like I've seen in other reviews, I thought OMG, my hair looks like I've sprinkled cocoa powder on my head. So I then read more reviews and watched videos and purchased Toppik. I realized through all of the videos that the fibers won't work unless you use a locking mist spray or hair spray. So I purchased Toppik and LOVED it. I thought wow, this is going to change my life when I quickly realized from reading some more reviews, that in direct sunlight it will turn your hair GREEN. Sure enough, I took pictures of the Toppik in my hair and it was GREEN. So I then read more reviews and thought that maybe Xfusion, the other brand of Toppik would not have this green house effect. I bought it and found out it did. So then I tried Nanogen and well, no GREEN, instead it was purple! I was also realizing that these products took a lot of effort to cover my balding areas. So after accidentally seeing a private review in a forum about Boost N Blend (FOR WOMEN), I thought why not try this stuff even though it's not a for men product. The forum talked about other products turning the hair green or looking chalky, etc. So I purchased Boost N Blend and WOW and OMG!! After extensive testing and use of Boost N Blend, this stuff in absolutely incredible. It DOES NOT turn your hair any colors at all. It's simply a matter of purchasing the right color of boost n blend to match your hair. Yes, when you first use the product just like the others, it looks like a powder or lighter color than your hair. But when you use a fiber mist locking spray and in my case, I still continue to use the Xfusion locking spray, the Boost N Blend takes on a completely natural look and blends in with my natural hair. My brother and girlfriend have both been aware of what I've been doing and giving me advice and input and they both agree, you absolutely cannot tell I have the Boost N Blend in my hair. They also agree it's incredibly amazing. I will continue purchasing Boost N Blend as long as my fine thin remaining hairs will grow and allow me to get away with using it. I LOVE this product! I had to send it back but only because the color did not match my hair. It was called light silver grey but I would call it more like dark sliver grey. I have white hair and it did not match. I will go back to just using baby powder, which works great. Read more
This is much better than other "fibers" out there, but it's still fibers. As such, they CAN look obvious if you don't work with them. I've found the best use of these is after putting my hair (what little bit I have) up and I need a little something to cover my "halo" (scalp show-through). Be careful, though, because these little guys will move around on you if you don't position them just right and hair spray them down.My favorite scalp coverup is Cover Your Gray fill-in powder. It's still my go-to product to camouflage my lack of hair up there. Read more
i only tried this product because of what i had seen on the internet by other bloggers. i was a little concerned because of the price, that this would be wasted money, but i am happy to say it definitely is not. if your hair is thinning, and its too early for toppers or wigs, this is the perfect product for you. if you arent sure how to use it, there are plenty of videos on youtube and on the product website. i swear by this product, its really worth it and one bottle lasts me about 3 months. it not only covers up shinny scalp but it also adds texture and literally boosts your hair up. i use this with a little dry shampoo and i am good to go. i am able to fluff up my hair and have perfect sexy bed head hair! I really like this product. It’s effective at covering up where it needs to, but importantly it doesn’t irritate my scalp at all. I think it is better than other brands I have used mainly because they are cotton not keratin fibers. I would definitely recommend it. Read more
