Despite the Amazon description and chart claiming that the sunscreen has no octinoxate, it is listed on the box when I get the product as the first active ingredient. I am returning it as this ingredient is absorbed into your skin and some research shows it can have serious effects on our body and hormones. Read more

Pros: - Fragrance free - less chance of skin irritation - Has zinc oxide - good for both UVA and UVB protection. - Less expensive than other sunscreens with zinc oxide - Moisturizing - Seems to stay on well even with a little sweating - Bottle is cute - it is fun how the bottle turns blue in UV lightCons: - If you’re vegan, this does have beeswax. As of August 2018, The FAQ section on the Blue Lizard site claims their sunscreens contain no animal-derived products. Although some people might consider beeswax not animal-derived because it’s not literally made of dead bees, I still think that claim on their site is a bit misleading. - Can give a bit of a white cast. If you really rub it in, the cast isn’t that noticeable at all. However, I have pale skin. Not sure this sunscreen would work that well for dark skin tones…- Technically NOT water-resistant ( though NO sunscreen is completely waterproof as far as I know) . If you are gonna be outside basically all day, doing active outdoorsy things, or being in the water, you’d probably want to get another sunscreen just to be on the safe side. However, it does seem to stay on well with some sweating anyways so if you’re not going to be sweating too much or around water that much, this should work fine.- No added fragrance, but there is a slight sunscreen-y smell. Not a bad smell necessarily, but not super pleasant either. It was what I expected it to be when I ordered this so I would recommend this. Just make sure you read the cons I listed above because it’s not for everyone or for all situations. Read more

I've started trying to take better care of my face, and one of those things everyone recommended was a good sunscreen. I tried out several brands before I tried this particular face sunscreen, and had been largely unhappy with what I had been seeing in these other sunscreens. Many brands were extremely thick, left my face streaky and/or white, and/or left a greasy shine that I despised. I gave this a shot based on recommendations from a well-trafficked skincare reddit group, and wish I had started here rather than trying out those other brands. It is a thick sunscreen (gel-based, from their extensive FAQ), and appears to go on white, but after some rubbing quickly faded and blended into my (white) skintone. There was no greasy residue, and didn't feel heavy on my skin like others have. It's non-comedogenic, made of reputable ingredients, and is widely recognized as a quality sunscreen. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone who would ask me about it. Read more

Started tretinoin the 29th of April and needed to upgrade my sun protection. I already wear sunscreen everyday but now I'm doing 2 layers. One of this blue lizard and on top the Australian gold botanical tinted sunscreen. This sunscreen is light feeling on my normalish slightly oily skin. Leaves a slight white cast on my light skin tone. Dries down I'd say satin. Its not greasy but not matte either. Great for every day wear but not water resistant so not good for outdoors. overall one of the best mineral /chemical sunscreens I've tried . Can't use chemical since avabonzone burns my eyes and skin. Read more

I bought the blue Lizard version that was not intended for facial application, and the first few duckdives the water dripping in my eyes would cause them to sting. So I bought the facial version and this is eliminated. The bottle turning blue is neat. It happens quickly indirect sunlight and I was surprised that even in indirect sun that the reflection of sunlight off a white car parked next to me, would have the bottle take on a blue hue too.I've not tried every sunscreen available but this is my favorite so far,for surfing. I've been a loyal Blue Lizard user for a few years, but only recently tried the face moisturizing sunscreen. I'm thrilled with it. I actually only pack this when I travel, as it is perfectly suitable to use on the arms, shoulders, legs and more.As someone who has an allergy to the sun itself, I've tried MANY brands of types of sunscreens over the past 15 years. Blue Lizard takes the cake and is worth every penny. Unlike most sunscreens you can get at chain stores, this one has Zinc, so you will need to rub it in to avoid having "whiteface." I typically apply an ample layer, let it sit for a moment, and then use the same motions as applying foundation to let it soak in.Blue Lizard has a neutral odor, so it doesn't smell like your typical sunscreen (which has fragrance), but it also doesn't smell like medicine. Just a clean, barely noticeable scent. Read more

I am a 70 year old very active adult who between hiking, biking, and golfing is pretty much outdoors all of the time. I also have very sensitive skin and rosacea. I've been looking for a sunscreen for a long time that would work and I've finally found it with the Blue Lizard. After 2 weeks it has significantly reduced my rosacea and really lasts a long time after application. Read more

I've tried so many natural sunscreen's that I had just about given up and switched back to unnatural chemical filled pollutants to protect myself from UV rays. But then I found Blue Lizard Face Mineral-Based Sunscreen with hydrating Hyaluronic Acid and I couldn't be happier. I had thyroid survey a couple months ago, so having an effective and moisturizing sunscreen was incredibly important to me. I also have very sensitive skin prone to breakouts from new products. This sunscreen stands alone in it's class for ultimate long-lasting protection and hydration. The spray on natural sunscreen protected my skin for such a short time, and my face and neck didn't even need a second application after 4 hours in the direct sun. Wouldn't recommend trying, but it was an accident! And I am so impressed. As long as they stick to this formula, they have a life-long customer! Read more

Great if you have oily skin like me!Remember to shake it before using, and let it dry for about 10-15 minutes after aplication.I usualy moisturise my face, let it absorb a bit, and then apply the sunscreen so that the moistrusirer doesnt dilute the suncreen.I've got greasy skin so this works well for me. It does leave a slightly white, dry finish, but that works for me personally as it covers the redness in my face a bit.Doesn't irritate my rosacea either which is a bonus. Not sure if this works well on dry skin.
