I was recently diagnosed as pre-diabetic and need a glucose meter in a hurry, so I purchased the accu check active at a local pharmacy. It works great, except that the amount of blood that is required left my fingers sore. This product has made it so much easier and painless to check my glucose as it only requires a teeny tiny drop of blood. I also love the fact that it comes with so many strips and lancets, since I test often. The package arrived on time and all the contents were sealed. The carrying bag is a lot sturdier than my other one and it has compartments for the strips, lancets and the lancing device. As of today, I am very pleased with my purchase. Read more

A simple low-cost kit that seems to be as good as my previous OneTouch Verio monitor, but at a much lower cost! In our current disposable-minded economy it was cheaper to buy a new kit (with 150 test strips, mind you) than buy strips for my old monitor. The quality is ok, it's simple to use, and the price point is very good. Readings are available within 5 seconds. It doesn't have rechargeable batteries like my Verio did but the coin batteries supplied with the unit should last for a long time, I'm hoping. Comes with a nice slender case and 100 lancets. My Doctor just called —-> it correlated perfectly with the lab. They draw my blood at same time I used the kit. Kit was 111 lab was 108!! Impressive ! I’m following up on pregnancy diabetes, and as I did not want to wait the insurance I bough this. I was concerned after some reviews, but really may be how do you use them . I wash my hands, sanitize them and use the 2nd drop as instructed by our nurse( 1st can be contaminated by alcohol or anything else) Read more

If I could give this a zero, I would.I do not have blood glucose issues, so I was completely unfamiliar with what was necessary to get an accurate blood glucose reading. I purchased this kit for a college course experiment. When it arrived, I was unable to open the package to see how to use it, which I was only able to do very recently.When I started reading the package/instructions, I discovered that I need to make a separate purchase of a control solution, which wasn't mentioned in the ad. I went to 4 local pharmacies/stores and this kit is nowhere to be found. I couldn't even order the control solution from the stores/pharmacies. So, clearly, this isn't commonly available or is such an old machine that local stores don't carry it or the control solution.Unfortunately, I missed the return window by 3 days and have to eat the $40 loss. The glucometer works as described. I have been testing with it for a about a week. I have not had any difficulty with the item. The price is great. I like that it is simple to operate, accurate without control solution. The strips and lancets are very reasonably priced for replacement.This is my 1st glucometer. My son has one that is very nice, but the strips and lancets are very expensive - can purchase this complete kit for the price of 50 replacement strips. He advised I not get the brand he has - glucometer given to him.I am going for lab work next week and I will test before I go to lab to verify accuracy. Will add to this post after comparison. Great product. Monitor is very accurate and works fast. Strips do not get stuck together and are easy to insert. The needle holder/finger pricker....COMPLETE GAME CHANGER. Love the fact it is ADJUSTABLE. People with calloused fingertips can adjust the depth of the needle that will enter your finger. My fingers require a very shallow plunge. Also for a child, can go even more shallow. This drastically reduces the amount of pain endured! Fabulous product! Please do not change it! Read more
