I have Sjorgren's syndrome (if you don't know, it attacks and destroys your exocrine glands, such as your saliva glands and tear ducts). I take a prescription drug (Evoxac - actually, I take the generic form), which helps tremendously - it is a miracle for me; but my mouth still gets dry at night when I can't take it for such a long time). I used to constantly have multiple ulcers or blisters on my tongue, even after I found Evoxac (though that helped SO much), which a dentist finally diagnosed as blisters from friction because my mouth was so dry. I have had almost no tongue blisters since I started using this before bed (and again if I wake in the middle of the night). As a head and neck cancer survivor, a serious downside was the radiation to the tumor in the base of my tongue burned up my salivary glands. As such my diet was severely limited with no saliva to swallow. And while laying horizontal, my mouth was 100% dry which made sleep impossible. Yes it works. It is not that great since the effects last only about 4-5hrs. Dry mouth wakens me in the middle of the night so I began using Biotene. My affliction is due to heart meds--I think. No question that it is better than NOT using it, but I wish it would work for a longer period. Read more
