I had Oropharyngeal cancer and the treatments left me with a severely reduced ability to produce saliva. I drink LOTS of water, but sometimes I can't carry a water bottle with me. That's when this Biotene mouth spray comes in handy. My mouth gets SO dry, but 4 sprays of this holds me for anywhere between an hour to several hours, depending on other factors. Drinking water washes it away, so that's a reason to only use it when needed. I also use the mouthwash after brushing my teeth and the gel at night before bed. They all work well for me. I suffer from dry mouth caused by my Sjögren's Syndrome and acting on the advice from my doctor, I purchased this Biotene Mouth Spray. I have to say, I am not a great fan of the consistency of the product, but, it does what it is designed to do and helps with my dry mouth issues. I suppose after a while I will get used to the product and the consistency will no longer be noticeable after a while. I bought the 3 pack and keep a bottle with me at all times now. I love the fact I don't have to have the parched effect going on constantly anymore. I can do a few squirts before a work meeting rather than unprofessionally sucking on a candy while trying to present information. One thing I don't like is the the way the spritzer drips after use and makes a mess, I wipe it off after each use to minimize gooey build up. I have really dry mouth due to medications I take. I actually had a bottle of this for quite a while, but didn't start using it regularly until I got a CPAP machine. My mouth got so dry it was painful. So I located the bottle of this stuff and a few sprays before bed takes care of the problem.I ordered a 3-pack this time around, still just planning on using it before bed. I had these dry mouth lozenges at work (different brand) that I sometimes used, but they changed the shape and I found they cut up the inside of my mouth. I realized I could bring a bottle of spray to work too. Then one day I was out of water in my car and stuck in traffic when I realized I should put one in my purse too. Now that I'm using it more often, it really does make a big difference. I have far fewer episodes of my mouth being so dry that getting something to drink is my only priority.The main reason I had the first bottle so long and didn't really use it is that I'm really sensitive to the taste of things like this. If something tastes disgusting, I'm not going to use it no matter how well it works. I wish I would have given this a chance sooner because it works and it doesn't taste bad at all. "Gentle Mint" is a good description...it's minty without being spicy and the mint is not trying to conceal the background taste of whatever is in it.The lozenges I mentioned come from MedActive, so I decided to try their spray as well. I have been on medications for decades that made my mouth dry. It's uncomfortable, and just maddening! If you saw me, you saw my big water tote, and this was before drinking water was cool. And that only gave momentary relief. So I was well-hydrated but miserable.I saw this at my local drug store, and had to try it. IT WORKS. My mouth stays moist, and my tongue doesn't stick to the roof of my mouth or my cheeks. Now I keep a bottle in the locations I'm most likely found - by my recliner in the living room, by my bed, and by the recliner in my bedroom. (Don't ask. It's a pain thing. Sometimes the recliner is the best choice for sleep.) I cannot recommend this highly enough. I have Sjogren's syndrome and this spray helps to relieve the dryness in my mouth. It helps to keep my lips from sticking to my teeth, my tongue from sticking to the roof of my mouth and my cheeks from sticking to my teeth. My mouth can get so dry it affects my speech. This is my second review. I gave the product 1 star because of its sprayer. If I can get the product out, it works. Trouble is, the sprayer quits working. Biotene Mouth Spray or its alternative mouth wash really work. Most of the night my mouth stays moist, where as if I don't use the Biotene my lips are sticking to my teeth in no time at all. I had used about 3/4 of the first bottle I purchased with few problems...some gag reflex due to the taste. Yesterday I used it when I woke up and, afterwards, used my tongue to spread it around my mouth. I do not know what happened but it set a spot at the back of my mouth on fire. I couldn't swallow, take a deep breath, or talk without severe pain and deep hard coughing for over six hours. Nothing helped. Not water, couldn't gargle, and not lozenges.
