I've been trying to find the perfect mineral sunscreen. Believe me when I tell you I've done HOURS of research. I have yet to find one.PROS:Clean ingredients, one of the best rated on EWG.Didn't cause breakout on face (I have sensitive, acne prone skin).Seems to do the job (hard to tell here, I don't burn easily & haven't used it under tropical sun).Minimal white cast (I have tan skin).Cons:Not a lot of product (even with all the spreading, you end up going through it quickly).Separation (not a huge deal, just gotta shake it vigorously).MAJOR - Extremely thick & oily.(I thought others were exaggerating, but seriously. I live somewhere humid. The only way the application is tolerable is if I sit in blasting A/C while I put it on, then sit for a half hour waiting for it to "absorb." The vigorous rubbing required makes me feel extra hot, so reapplying out on a humid sunny day can feel super gross. It feels like you're trapping moisture under a thick oily film. I know physical sunscreens are supposed to sit on your skin. But out of the ones I've used, I've FELT this one on my skin the most. Like my skin is suffocating. I use it on my face because I'm sensitive to chemicals, but a setting powder is NECESSARY. It's too shiny & slides around with sweat. You gotta lock it in.)Overall, it's not the worst. But I won't be repurchasing. Read more

I love this sunscreen. I have rosacea so I needed a mineral sunscreen that doesn't irritate my skin. This product has such great ingredients. Im also a person of color (medium skin tone) and everyone knows that mineral sunscreen usually makes you look like a ghost. This one doesnt at all. It is very thick and takes a minute to rub in but there is very minimal- maybe even completely no white cast left behind. It makes my skin so soft. Definitely a great facial sunscreen. Read more

I am allergic to all sunscreens except zinc oxide. Badger makes the best product because it is free of other allergenic ingredients. However, until their clear sunscreen was available, all of the others left a distinctly white film on your skin giving you a ghost-like appearance. The clear version goes on white, ends up clear. It is great. It is just as effective but is unnoticeable. Read more

I love Badger sunscreen and I think this one is my favorite, because as a clear zinc sunscreen, it doesn’t have to be rubbed in as hard as some of the other mineral sunscreens and doesn’t leave the white residue that some of the others do. It provides excellent sun protection, and is one of several brands that the Environmental Working Group (EWG) ranks very highly for skin safety (no nasty chemicals to be absorbed by the skin) and skin sun protection, to which I can attest as well. I have sensitive skin that can break out from anything, and this doesn’t cause any irritation whatsoever. Living in southern Arizona, I use huge amounts of this and recommend it highly. It is also 98% organic and contains no GMO ingredients. Read more

I started using this brand for my son when he was about 1. He gets a rash from conventional sunscreen and we found this out because the first time we put it on him, he developed a rash in only the places we put the sunscreen. Looking back he literally had a rash in the shape of a t-shirt and shorts (no rash only were the clothes were), its kind of funny now. When we took him to the doctor they said they thought it was the sunscreen and because most sunscreen use the same basic chemicals its hard to tell which one gives him the reaction. So we faithfully use a sunscreen with zinc as the main ingredient and only natural non-chemical. He is 11 now and because he's being a typical cranky boy, wants to use the spray kinds like the other kids, I bought some of the other zinc based sunscreens. A couple worked ok but recently had a problem with a rash with natural sunscreen... so we're back to only Badger. He's not complaining anymore now that he doesn't have a rash all over his face. Badger has not disappointed us yet in the 10 years of using it. Read more

I have oily and acne prone skin so I’m still on a hunt for a good face SPF of at least 30 that has cleaner ingredients, is mineral/physical and doesn’t add on to my already oily skin. This was too thick, too white and felt heavy on skin for hours. I couldn’t even put makeup on that day because my skin was super greasy still. It’s a pass for me but I still will keep it for the body! Read more

Thick as glue...no matter how much I blend this thing won't disappear. It leaves a think white residue. I'm tan completion and this makes me look like a ghost. Horrible product. And it smells fishy too. Read more

Update:The beeswax is very hard to get off your face. It’s not bad for you but regular cleansing is not enough to get it off. I didn’t mind it at first and now it’s annoying me because I need it everyday.——•——Older:Keep in mind of the ingredients. I assume the thickness comes from the beeswax. Very simple solution, just melt it in your fingers. It doesn’t take very long and I acknowledge it is not supposed to be like a standard sunscreen product and do not expect it to feel and look like it.I like it and have not had any problems with it and I have medium-light combination/acne prone skin with olive undertones. I do not notice any white cast. I think that may have come from people who didn’t let the sunscreen melt on their fingers first and rubbed it straight on. Read more

i've been looking for a mineral sunscreen for a while because it's environmentally safe. I'm indian and quiet tanned and this doesn't leave me looking like I've white paint on my face:-). very slight white cast in the beginning of application which goes away after few minutes. This sunscreen is very moisturising, which is great for me as i have dry skin and psoriasis and doesn't irritate my skin. Maybe will be a bit too greasy for people with oily skin. Perfect for dry skin. The only thing is that it is a bit expensive for the amount you get, but i guess it's because its an US imported product therefor its way more cheaper in the US. I wish UK made a clear zinc oxide sunscreen for a reasonable price. Read more

I was using a different zinc one & left my skin looking pasty white . Wore this today & after rubbing it in face it was invisible which was what I wanted . Ingredients are clean in this badger sunscreen, it is a little expensive but worth it to avoid chemicals & pasty white looking skin with other creams if you want it just for the face.If you want this for everyday use on the body I wouldn’t recommend as stayed greasy & didn’t soak in the whole day which meant it covered my bag & clothes in grease & dark clothes in white marks which didn’t wash off . This would be good for the beach I imagine , with an old swim suit & you could towel it off with an old towel at end of day before dressing . Badger do a lotion also which I believe is not as greasy as this waterproof one , I will need to try to get that one somewhere as am not prepared to stain all my good clothes just because it has clean ingredients, will have to keep this for the beach . Only use a pea size amount for the entire face as the sunscreen is so thick. I have dry skin and it doesn't seem to break me out. I'm not sure if this is non-comedogenic, it might be different if you have oily or acne prone skin. The texture is like toothpaste and it does leave my skin slightly itchy sometimes if I leave it on all day. I tend to wash it off as soon as I get home. The good thing is doesn't seem to cause redness for myself like other SPFs have done. I wouldn't say it's the best sunscreen out there but the price is more affordable than some of the other mineral sunscreens I would go for. Seems to do the job if your willing to put up with a couple of minor cons. There isn't much of a smell to it either which is good. Read more

I have sensitive skin and am allergic to most sunblocks that are chemical-based. I searched online and found this product as one of the recommended sunblocks for sensitive skin. It had good reviews as well. Tried it for 3 days and it doesn't irritate my skin as much. I still get a bit itchy after long hours, but i think my skin is just really sensitive. It is quite heavy and greasy upon application and leaves a heavy, oily feel to the skin. But after a while it's fine and absorbed by the skin, i guess. No white streaks/marks, which is really good.I didn't break out on my face even after wearing this sunblock for many hours.Overall, i recommend this product. Read more

This is the thickest and greasiest sun cream I have ever used. Its not a pleasure to use and doesn't even smell nice. It is so thick it is difficult to squeeze out of the tube and you need to rub in quite vigorously to have any chance of removing the white cast. It is really greasy, and although I have dry mature skin it left me with an oil slick which was challenging to disguise with makeup or powder. I would use it if I was on holiday lying on a beach and don't need to wear make up as I don't doubt it's ability to protect your skin from burning , but for daily use I cannot recommend it.
