There are way too many ingredients in this product. Most baby sunscreen manufacturers have gotten their ingredient list down to under 20. This also leaves a pretty significant white cast as you can see in the picture attached. Go with babybum instead. Read more

Is it really for kids? Its extremely hard to apply. It's like applying dried candle wax on face and it is even so much harder to remove! I tried it on my face first. I couldn't get it off even with soap and cleansing soap. I had no choice but to rub it off my baby's face. And yet it still didn't get off. How the heck do you remove this?? Read more

They’re gritty! I have VERY sensitive skin that gets even more sensitive in the sun. I had to reapply this after having a reaction to the sun (not sunburn but that’s probably the equivalent for the average person) because I couldn’t immediately get inside and the grittiness hurt sooooo bad! I use these sunscreen sticks to take with me for exactly that purpose (reapplication/ or sometimes forgetfulness) but it’s difficult to put on when it’s painful and, just like a sunburn, when my skin is reacting to the sun is the time when I need the sun protection the most! However... it is very effective at blocking the sun and (for me) preventing my sun allergic reactions and other sun rashes. The main other downfall is that it feels heavy. I have pretty dry skin but I can look kinda oily using this on my face and it also gets weird and heavy outside and applies way too thickly and unevenly even on my super pale skin (although a little bit of that is kinda part of the territory with sunscreen sticks anyway). My favorite is the Cerave one because it is lightweight but still effective and nearly invisible but it is fairly pricey and this one was the best price. Read more

We have used Babyganics Sunscreen in the past because we want to use organic sun protection and we've loved their sunscreen in the past. Apparently due to a lawsuit that alleges Babyganics has not been using organic ingredients, they've changed their formula. This new formula simply doesn't work. We caked it on my three kids, on my wife and myself and only one hour later in only sparse sunlight, all five of us got serious sunburns. We are super disappointed (not to mention uncomfortable). I can't believe this company lied to its customers and then put out a new formula that just simply doesn't work. Read more

After hearing how bad the chemicals in some sunscreens can be, I went on the EWG website to find the best rated ones. This had a rating of 2 (0-1 is the best) where a lot of the ones I found in stores were 7-8 with potential cancer-causing ingredients or irritants if you have sensitive skin. I have used this on my 7 month old baby a few times now and it glides right on. I have heard some of the other mineral-based sunscreens are hard to apply. I didn't notice any scent or negative side effects and felt comfortable taking my little love for a long walk on a sunny day. Read more

We're semi-crunchy, so I wanted a sunscreen that wasn't completely full of toxins, but that wouldn't break the bank. This seemed to fit the bill. It's not the perfect sunscreen, but it's better than the other crap out there. Our first time using it was last week while my son was at Cub Scout day camp. He was outside in 90+ degree heat from 9am until 4pm. We applied it in the morning each day before arriving at camp and it worked wonderfully. The only part of my son that got a bit red was the back of his neck. But that could be because he didn't get very well back there or just because it's the most exposed part of him. But it wasn't red enough to blister or even hurt for more than a day, and he's very light skinned! I used it also for one day while i was volunteering at camp and had the same experience - the only part that got red was the back of my neck. I applied it to my face, ears, front and back of neck, and my arms. Again, no blistering or extreme pain, just red for a couple days and only on the back of my neck. Usually I'd come home with burnt ears, face, arms, etc. I'm also very light skinned. I advised my son to reapply at lunch time, but i don't know if he did or not on the days i wasn't there. We haven't used it in water, but i imagine it would definitely need reapplication during use in water, as most sunscreens (especially the more non-toxic variety) usually do. Read more

Read more
