I have small children and after reading the EWG.org list of harmful chemicals in sunscreens, I decided to find something safer. However, ThinkBaby scored very poorly in Consumer Report's July 2018 issue for UVB (sunburn) protection. To test UVB, they conducted experiments that involved applying the sunscreen to the skin, soaking in water, exposing the area to different intensities of UVB light and then assessing skin damage 1 day later. (Several trials, the score is an average of results). The actual protection for UVB for ThinkBaby was SPF 0-9. It scored well (50+ for UVA protection). As a result, I will not be using this for my children. It seems consumers must choose between ineffective products and products that contain harmful chemicals.I have decided to invest in long sleeve sun clothing and use a minimal amount of Coppertone WaterBabies Pure and Simple more chemically harmful, but effective (and cheaper) sunscreen. This sunscreen caused a terrible reaction in my 3 year old that lasted for more than a week!!!! I’m so upset. We had to take her to the doctor’s twice. Her skin is a bit on the sensitive side, with mild eczema, but we’ve used two or three different brands of sunscreen before this one without trouble.I applied one thin coat to her face and arms on a Friday afternoon. We spent about 40 minutes in the sun. The next morning, her forehead and cheeks start looking a little red, and her dad thought she got a bit of sunburn. By Saturday night she was getting little bumps around the forehead and arms. On Sunday morning, her entire face was red and bumpy, and her eyes were starting to swell. She was getting bumps on her chest as well. We got an after-hour clinic appointment right away and took her in. The doctor gave us some medicine and said it should be gone in a couple of days. By Thursday her face was still bumpy, though the redness and swelling had gone down. We ended up going to the doctor’s again on Thursday night and even she was surprised that it still hadn’t gone completely away. The bumps finally went away 8 or 9 days after the sunscreen application.Picture is from day 4. Skin was still very bumpy and red. I tossed the whole tube in the trash. Read more

While this sunscreen seems to offer good protection from the sun, it causes our baby's eczema to flare up terribly. Each time I've tried it, her little cheeks get so red and inflamed. I would not recommend this if your baby has sensitive skin and is proned to eczema. Read more

My husband and I came back from Mexico last week. We needed an environmental friendly sunscreen, since reviews looked pretty good about this one we decided to buy it. Because I am olive skin I normally don’t use a sunscreen higher then 20 SPF for my body and 30 SPF for my face, but everywhere online it’s written that the sun is truly strong in Mexico so we opted for the 50 SPF ( also considering my husband is white ) . We applied a generous amount of product the first day, which we spent walking around for a tour. We both got burnt severely, instead our faces were fine just because we used another brand of sunblock with an even lower SPF.That caused us to spend the following day in hotel because we couldn’t even put clothes on!!! Not exactly what we wanted to do at all. More than a week later, we are still shedding skin. I didn’t get burn for over a decade before this trip.I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND this product, not just for the reason above but also for the price. Ridiculous!!! Read more

I started using this sunscreen several years ago when our usual Badger Unscented was irritating the sensitive skin of my toddler. I've been really happy with it since then and no problem with burns. (We do use it in conjunction with UPF swim clothes and Sunday Afternoons play hats.) I started buying it because it was non-nano but when I ordered it from here just before vacation a couple of weeks ago, I received a bottle with new styling and the back does not say "non-nano" despite the fact that the amazon listing and product picture both indicate non-nano. I reached out to the company before posting this review and received no response. I'm certainly disappointed but will be switching back to Badger. Read more

Do the research! Many big name suncreens on the market are toxic for you! I used the Thinkbaby sunscreen on myself when I was pregnant when we went to Playa del Carmen for our babymoon. We went to this natural water park called Xcaret that has these underground rivers and they were very strict about which sunscreens you brought in b/c they wanted to protect the natural wildlife and habitats in the water. They have security at the entrance checking your bags for these chemical sunscreens and force you to throw them away and provide you with mineral sunscreen. I showed them my Thinkbaby and it was on the approved list. :)Think about it, if the sunscreen isn't safe enough for fish, you probably shouldn't be rubbing it into you or your baby's skin. For more information about toxicity and absorption of chemicals like oxybenzone: http://www.ewg.org/2015sunscreen/report/the-trouble-with-sunscreen-chemicals/ Read more

I read the winning reviews, but after 8 hours and 3 applications at Typhoon Lagoon, I was unimpressed and burned. Seemed to serve same purpose as wearing a windbreaker at Chernobyl. I'm going back to BurnOut for Kids. Read more

This sunscreen was a must have for our recent trip to Mexico with a seven month old. For being so high in zinc, it rubs in really well and is non greasy. Smells amazing, and works just as good! After the third day, we started using it on ourselves as well as our son! Read more

Has a mild citrus smell, but that's not too bad. Haven't used it long enough to know how effective it is at shielding from the sun but my skin seemed fine with it and I much preferred this smell to usual sunscreen smells. Read more

This is one of the nicest natural sunscreens I've used. It's not sticky after you put it on, the smell isn't strong and it goes on nicely. It also doesn't leave white streaks and absorbs into the skin quickly. Read more
