I liked that it came with replacement heads and a carrying case and it seemed like it would be more convenient than a standard file but it rotates way to fast even on the lowest setting I did not use it for the first two months because my baby's nails were so thin I was afraid I would hurt him. When I did use it I had my finger on the side of the rotating head to slow it down and only used it while my baby was sleeping or distracted by his bottle. This method worked okay but was not ideal. I wanted to give this product a good rating because I think it may work well for older kids but I am giving it 2 stars because today my husband accidently cut our son with the product even on the lowest setting and the gentlest file head. He tried to use it while our baby was awake and he said he pushed his hand into the file and it abraded his little finger. I got the file specifically because I didn't want to cut my baby. It is unrealistic to think that a baby will hold still long enough to use this product. We are past the return window but I don't think we will ever be using this again. My wife did a lot of research on the best product to file our 4 month olds nails. He only let her hand file them while nursing and asleep and his nails grow so quickly. She used this right when we received it and absolutely LOVE it! This product is super easy to use, has a night light on it that is super helpful, it’s quiet and didn’t disturb him at all. it only took a few minutes to do one hand and one foot versus a hand file which could take a whole nursing session for just one hand and it wouldn’t even be that great of a file. She loves the different file heads that it came with based on age. It even came with a refill pack. We will be recommending this to anyone we know with a baby! Read more

This is a must-have for any new parent. I put this on my baby registry, but nobody bought it for me. So I figured I’d give regular clippers a shot and save the $20.Trimming newborn nails is scary. And they come out so long right off the bat, so they need to be trimmed when baby is still so small and fragile. I had no idea their nails are paper thin, making them even harder to clip for some reason. I tried one nail, couldn’t cut it cleanly, and gave up the traditional trimmers. I ordered this electric file and have had zero regrets.I use it while I’m nursing and can get each hand done in under five minutes. And that’s meticulously filing each finger. I’m sure you could do it even faster if you needed to.I’ve only used the orange file so far, but it’s been great. I tested it on myself and even when it hits skin there’s no harm done. I have never cut my baby with this and can’t imagine that ever being an issue when using the right file. Read more

This is easy to use but I still think cutting with nail clippers is easier. The plus side to using this is it makes baby’s nails soft therefore making it less likely baby will scratch themselves. This was perfect for filing down my 3 month old's nails. I was scared to use clippers on his tiny fingers, so thought I would try this. I was able to easily file the nails down quickly with the orange color attachment (there are different attachments for different ages/purposes). It is very gentle and does not hurt the baby's skin but is effective on the nails. The light on it is fairly useless though so I wouldn't try to use it at night or in a dark room. This is amazing! My baby is not bothered by it 1 bit. I was afraid to clip her bails because I hear of so many people accidentally cutting them and i was terrified of hurting her. She doesn't even react to this, if anything she just doesn't like her hand being held in 1 spot but has no cares about the file. It is super quiet too! I have told future moms about it too! NOT overly impressed. I ended up returning. It is somewhat quiet. Light turns on when tool turns in for using in the dark. Light IS NOT bright. I had a very hard time seeing anything. It is gentle, but gentle enough that it doesn't even file a baby's nails down. If too much pressure is applied to try to get it to file, it stops spinning all togerher. Just used this for the first time on our little boy! We felt so bad the first few times we tried to cut his nails we trimmed them too short and hurt him. This was so quick and easy to use and was perfect for the job. It trimmed them down perfectly and was gentle enough that I didn’t have to worry about touching his skin with the head.
