First I’d like to say that I’m a huge Earth Mama mama. I love the company and was so excited to hear they launch a sunscreen. Upon receiving the tube it feels empty. It is sealed and when holding it up to the light it seems it’s only 1/3 full. That’s a huge bummer because my twins are in daily swimming so I’m not sure how long this tiny third full of a bottle will last. Updating this review after trying it out on my kids. It does leave a white cast after rubbing in which takes longer then I would have liked. I’m ok with the white cast, because it’s to be expected with a natural sunscreen. I noticed after wearing got a few minutes it settles into the creases of the skin (inside elbows) which I don’t like. I will keep searching for a better one but will use this meanwhile. Read more
I Love the clean ingredients in this and how it doesn't have any of the nasty stuff found in traditional sunblock but this stains my toddlers clothing. He has to wear sunblock on his face and this is the chalky white type that does not absorb and just stays on the surface of the face. I was prepared for that as a trade off for better ingredients but I was not prepared for all of my sons clothing to get stained with it. I have washed clothing twice and used stain remover and this sunblock does not come off. This may be okay for the beach but I would not recommend for wear with clothing on. Read more
I'd like to give it more stars because the ingredients are great - but it just doesn't work that well and it's expensive. I am not using it on a kid, I'm using it on myself (adult very fair woman). I have always burned very easily but also I struggle to find sunscreens that don't smell bad (cannot stand the smell of coconut). This does NOT smell bad. There is a light scent but it's not any kind of perfume type scent so I was very happy with that.-For such a high price you only get 3oz. The bottle is a decent size but there is barely anything in it-It is difficult to squeeze out unless you leave it in the sun for a bit. I'm talking like if it's 70 degrees or less it's basically impossible to squeeze. Once it's warmed up, the consistency is great and it's very easy to rub in, especially compared to similar products. The rub in time is not bad at all as long as it's warm, and there isn't a bunch of liquid that pours out by accident.-Yes it does leave a white cast. This is not a problem for me. I'd rather look like a ghost than a tomato.-It is messy and gets on everything, leaving the white stuff everywhere. Difficult/impossible to get off clothing. Same with my car. I must have leaned my white arm on my car door, trim, and part of the interior. Now they have white smudges that don't want to come off. Note: this is a problem with all mineral sunscreens I've tried so I'm not complaining, just mentioning it. It's one of the trade-offs you make for using a safer product-Sadly, it did not seem to protect my skin. I really slathered it on, multiple times in a day. I know it was on there because I could clearly see the white. It's possible there was some protection, but my skin darkened quite a bit. I can tell from my watch line and sandal line. I will now have striped feet the rest of the season. I have learned my lesson in the past about my feet burning so I really coated this stuff on, but nope, the sun got me. Read more
There are pros and cons. Overall, the product IS worth it for very young children. I like this product because it does what it says it’ll do; moisturizes and protects skin with waterproof ingredients. Everything is plant derived and is as “whole” as possible. Simply put the sunscreen utilities natural spf properties of things like raspier berry seed oil and Shea butter. Because of that it is one of the safest things to put on your infant IF necessary. The cons are related to the price. Putting this on our four year old today I used 1/3 of the bottle. After a long day at the pool and reapplication the bottle will be gone. I feel like we just tore up a twenty dollar bill. The main ingredient is coconut oil, which is not worth the price tag. The other oils included, like raspberry and jojoba, are on the more expensive side, but at that price and coupled with the amount sunscreen not going very far, it’s not very good value for money at all. You could easily order and make your own for cheaper. If you don’t care to make your own, and you’ll only use a little bit of you’ll only use it for a short time on an infant then it may be worth it but if you’re looking for a sunscreen for all your kids this isn’t it!!!! Been going to the same beach for 20 years, and we're pretty diligent about using sunscreen every day. Wanted to try something new based on EWG ratings, so tried this which was highly rated. And I got completely burned the first day. I did knead the tube thoroughly before using. I've never had a complete failure like this with a sunscreen. My recommendation would be to try a small test of this (or any new sunscreen) before fully trusting it. Read more
Leaves a horrible white cast on skin. I'm fair skinned and I can see the product on my skin. It does not run in all the way and disappear. It sits on the skin and in your pores. It is very noticeable. Don't buy this product, there are much better ones on the market. Read more
I am a childcare provider and I have used many different types of sunscreen over the years. I recently purchased this Baby Mineral Sunscreen. I liked the thickness, the scent and the protection of this sunscreen. Some other organic brands are much thicker and harder to blend in. This sunscreen did separate when squeezed out of the tube but I didn't mind. It kept my 22 month old from getting any color. We reapplied after 2 1/2 hours of sun exposure. I would recommend this product. Read more
Arrived quick . The sunscreen is thick ,but what I did noticed was that the oils will separate so before you use it you might need to knead it or all you will get of the tube is the oils.I personally dont think it has a bad smell. If you put to much on and you have a darker skin tone, like I do it can take awhile to rub it in. I use this on my baby and myself and we have not had a burn. I like that it made with natural ingredients too. Read more
