I'm a pediatric Occupational Therapist and I bought this toy specifically for sessions with a 2 year old with Rett Syndrome (developmentally she is approximately between 3 and 6 months). This toy is incredibly motivating. She will turn her head to the side of the music and hit the buttons to make the instruments play and maintain a prone position (tummy time) when the toy is in front of her. It has been a godsend for our sessions. Older children are also enthralled by the colors, lights, and music of this toy; however it is remarkable for sustaining the attention of a child working on eye-hand coordination, visual motor skills, and for motivation. I typically do not use battery operated toys during sessions, but this one is motivating for the child and nice (more than tolerable) for the adult Read more

Though my son isn’t a huge fan of this toy, that isn’t part of me review. The toy itself is confusing. There is a piano side and guitar side and a drum in the middle. However, the buttons for piano and guitar do not depress; you tap them firmly to “play”. It seems like each piano key or guitar fret doesn’t play a sound, or if it does, not consistently. The drum also isn’t a hard surface you bang on like a real drum; it’s sunken in below a mesh top that you have to really reach in to push. There is also preprogrammed music that plays and the piano and guitar notes can play overtop that tune, but I wish it would let you choose if you’d like to play the tune OR simply strike individual keys/frets for baby to make their own song - not both at the same time. When the song and individual notes play together, it’s a headache. It’s also really difficult for me to get the notes to play, so my 4 month old can’t really participate. Read more

I don't know how long the battery will last, we just received it. What I can tell you is how much my 6 month old grandson and I really enjoy this educational toy. Of course, he's trying to eat the octopus's hat. LOL everything goes in the mouth Read more

This is for the octopus. We bought this when our son was only 2 months old. From the start it was in his playpen. At first, he would just accidentally hit one of the musical instruments and a tune would play. Eventually he gained more motor control and would purposefully hit the instruments, over and over again. He will be 20 months old tomorrow and he is playing with it as I type this review (and he has too many toys to choose from today). We have it switched to languages now and he's pushing the buttons for colors and instruments in English, French & Spanish. Years from now when I think back to his early childhood, I will think of the music this played for him, and it will bring a smile to my face. Read more

Bought because of brand and reviews. Completely dissatisfied. The middle drum part never worked properly. The thing plays songs randomly and never because of anything you push (there's no designated button to activate the songs, so it's truly a mystery). The piano looking part acts nothing like a piano. The keys don't move or make any sounds except the same one anywhere you push it. Guitar part is even worse. Hard to find the spot to activate it and only one monotonous strum sound is all that comes out. Very frustrating and teaches them nothing about music. In fact, it has him push way inside the drum part in the middle to activate the drum sound, stretching the tip of the drum out. It's really stupid and nothing like any instrument. And to top it off they slapped a mirror on there where it doesn't serve any purpose. Contacted seller for refund and not received any response. Don't buy Read more

While I LOVE this item & it seems to work entertain our little granddaughter... sadly one small drop & the head snapped off on the first day she was playing with it. I think that toys that are marketed to toddlers really need to be built with 'toddlers' in mind they do tend to drop things with their little hands. Amazon customer service was excellent & it was no problem to return. It's just the durability of this item that was not satisfactory. Read more

I can't begin to fathom how this can be advertised as a educational item. All the keyboard looking and other "buttons" on the side are just stationary and do nothing. This gadget simply makes noises and plays random tunes or does a drum roll when you touch or hit it in the center - I don't see any educational or learning value whatsoever. Our baby took no interest in it at all, as others of his toys and things make noises and play music as a built in feature and he showed no interest in playing with this thing, as it's big and bulky and not comfortable for him to hold. The price tag on this gadget has no justification - I feel ripped off! Price of something like this should be $10 at highest. Save your money for something more worthwhile, don't fall into this trap! The packaging for this toy was upside down in the delivery box. I grabbed it from the bottom to pull it out and found that the zip ties were all cut and the toy was not fastened to the packaging whatsoever. If this was for myself it would not be a big deal but it is something I am donating to a toy drive, in which toys must be new, and unopened. This is disappointing, I will have to now buy zip ties to reattach it myself for donation. Read more

Overall it's good, nice sounds and great selection of songs that play (they seem to play randomly have no idea how to actually get the songs to play?) but the reason only 4 stars is that it seems overpriced at £20 for what you get which is more an issue with buying on Amazon because it's not always clear what you're getting Read more
