Just wanted to pop in and say that this is one of the only sunscreens made for babies that are 100% safe ingredients. There is an app called "Think Dirty" and it will rate products for how toxic they are depending on their ingredients, with 0 being no toxic ingredients and 10 being very toxic. This sunscreen gets a 0! If this is important to you as it was for me, then I'm glad to have given this product a review to help you find a safe product for your baby. Remember though that no baby under 6 months should have sunscreen applied, unless your pediatrician gives you the ok! Read more
Yes, we do use shade and protective clothes at first place. My daughter’s eczema can vary from mild form, when skin looks dry and flaky, to severe form, when skin can be extremely irritated and red. Our dermatologist isn’t recommending using sunscreen for her, but there are situations when it’s better to use sunscreen than use nothing. Since her skin is more vulnerable to the sun’s damaging rays it was a challenge finding sunscreen that’ll work for her.Babo Botanicals was recommended to me in AT community. I tested it before use for allergic reaction such as rash, any form of breakout on the skin, itchiness, etc. So far so good! 🙏PROS:It is SPF 50, which is perfect, and fragrance free. It’s non irritating, hypoallergenic sunscreen with mineral based ingredients. It doesn’t dry out skin, applies easily. I’d say even moisturizes and soothes! I usually apply it on top of Mustela Stelatopia balm.CONS:I wish the texture was lighter and not so greasy, you have to heavily wash it off your skin with soap. It is advertised as sheer, but still leaves white sticky layer on the skin and doesn’t provide weightless feel. It also stained our stroller, cleaning up with soap didn’t remove the stains. One more flaw - it’s not alcohol free.BOTTOM LINE:This is a good sunscreen, and it does what it’s supposed to do. It will keep your little one safe from the sun’s harmful UV rays. It can be used on baby's sensitive skin and eczema prone skin (in our case). This baby zinc sunscreen is free of fragrance & irritating chemicals. Despite the flaws, I’m very happy that it worked for us! And I would definitely recommend to give it a try, but for sure test it before use.I hope my review was helpful. Read more
After doing my research, so happy to have found a safe sunscreen for my baby that is gentle on his sensitive skin! Best of all, it scored LOW on the thinkdirty app! Read more
I love this sunscreen. It is more on the pricey side, however, my mixed baby doesn't look like I'm trying to white wash her which was my main reason for searching for a new sunscreen. There are a lot of different ones out there and she uses this at daycare daily. She has fairly sensitive skin too and this does not irritate it at all. I'll spring the extra for something this good. Okay lol... So I thought this product would be for sensitive skin, hypoallergenic, contain natural, soft ingredients, etc. considering it's advertised for BABIES. This was the most irritating sunscreen I have ever used. The ingredients contain many hard to pronounce substances which I am also skeptical about. More importantly, most people who have sensitive skin have issues derived from allergies. Well, this product has tree nut products. Do not use this if you have psoriasis or eczema. I have eczema and it made me so tingly and itchy I had to wash it off immediately. It also leaves a horrible sticky white cast and the product does not move around so it's patchy and white- certainly not suited for medium or dark skin. One thing I will say is- because of the thickness I'm sure this provides good protection against the sun. It's very physical. But this is the overall worst sunscreen I've ever tried in my life I'm just being honest. I recommend Neutrogena sheer protection (or something like that). Read more
I developed an allergy to basic sunscreens a few years ago, so I've been on the hunt for something that didn't make me itch for days after using it. I tried Waxhead, but it was so thick and hard to apply, and left me whiter than I normally am, that I was finding myself taking chances with getting burned, just because I didn't want to wear it. I decided to try something new, and bought Babo Botanicals. Best decision ever. It's also thick, and if you haven't used it recently it needs to be shaken/squeezed a little to mix it all together, but it rubs in thoroughly and doesn't leave a white sheen. I used it while trudging around NYC in the sun in July. I did find that, even though I reapplied after 2-3 hours, I still got a little pink. However it was incredibly humid, so I may have just sweated it off. It says it's water resistant for 80 min, so I probably should've have applied more often. I don't know how it'll do when swimming since it does seem to come off semi-easily with moisture, but it's so much better than Waxhead, and many others that have similar reviews of a white sheen. It also was easier to remove when showering later. I felt I really had to scrub Waxhead off, and even then I felt a residue, but not with this one. Best part? No itching. This will be my new go-to for sunscreen. It does have a slight medicinal scent, but it's hardly noticeable.2nd pic is of the sunscreen slightly rubbed in. Once completely rubbed in, it's clear.
