I was inspired to buy and test this glucose meter for myself, because of all the negative reviews concerning the accuracy of the meter. Some reviewers even stated it was downright "dangerous". LMAO. The main issue at play here is that the majority of people don't understand or even do their research on the FDA or ISO standards on Glucose meter accuracy. The standards allow for +/- 20% of your "lab tested value" 99% of the time, which means if your lab value was 110mg/dl, a meter is consider accurate if it falls within the 88-132mg/dl. In my experience with the Auvon Glucose Meter, it's probably more accurate than a lot of meters currently on the market. I have compared it against my Contour Next One, which both the Journal of Diabetes Science and Technology, and the Diabetes Technology Society considers as "Highly Accurate". I, myself would agree that the Contour Next is an highly accurate meter. So, in over a dozen tests comparing the two meters next to each other, the Auvon always comes within a point or two of the Contour Next. Furthermore, when compared against three other meters, Auvon always comes the closest in my opinion. For example, when comparing against the Kroger Healthpro and Walmart's Relion Premier Blu meters, they both have given me "off in space readings" whereas the Contour and Auvon has always been fairly consistent in their readings, especially when compared to what I had eaten for the day. Disregard, the negative reviews, and give this meter a look if you're looking to save money on your Diabetic supplies, 16 cents/test strip can't be beat. The only disadvantage this meter has, it's just a simple basic meter. The memory is not big, so it can't hold as many readings as other meters on the market. However, i keep track of my numbers using an app on my phone, so I don't need anything else. Read more
I am not diabetic. Just have the prediabetic numbers. Was looking for something simple and not a bank account drainer. The kit offered everything you need to get started. When you have to buy new needles and strips from Auvon they are reasonably priced. The product is packaged well. The items do not look like cheap toys. I have used this device several times now and it is easy to use. The needle piercing tool seems to be good and will probably be good for most people. It is almost not strong enough to peirce my skin on the highest level. Couple of times it didn't peirce my skin. I have thick tough skin from being a mechanic. Overall this kit is good. Price is good. Replenishment of consumables in kit are reasonable. It is worth it if you are concerned about your blood sugar numbers.Just get the kit. Read more
I have three blood glucose meters. Two of them are fairly consistent and read very similar numbers. +/ - 5 points.This one is all over the place, sometimes reading as much as 30 points higher or lower compared to the other two meters.Perhaps it's a defective meter. I read a lot of reviews as I am new to monitoring my glucose and these machines. Cost of test strips and accuracy was two recurring factors with many people. This product does both well. The cost is one of the lowest and the accuracy is fine for my level of monitoring. The factor for differences in the reading values are all well within the margin. This is explained by the company. I really focus on averages and using the test during the same time of day and duration before and after meals. This lets me get a base line for my body, my glucose and this machine. This allows me to obtain data and communicate my responses to medication and changes in diet with my doctor. Data is the most valuable resource in management of glucose blood levels and this machine does everything well. Looking forward to the next version that syncs with Bluetooth. Great value. Good accuracy. Extremely easy and comfortable to use. I have been using it for 3 months now and after 2 days I was comfortable taking blood and using the machine. I just love my Auvon Glucose meter. It's super easy to travel with if needed and so convenient. The blood pricker, I don't know the actual name of it has a really small needle so you will barely feel it prick your finger. Which is great for me because I hate pain. My doctor told me to keep track of my levels and since I got this meter. It's really been helpful and accurate I have been checking 3 times a day and watching what I eat, and my levels have dropped from 6.3/147mg to 4.7/90 I couldn't be more pleased. Fighting this pre-diabetes and so far, I'm winning with my trusty Auvon meter. Read more
My doctor suggested I do a blood sugar study by keeping track of my fasting blood glucose levels for about 10 days to see if a reading at her office was an aberration. I immediately researched glucometer devices. The Auvon DS-W got excellent reviews. In addition, they had very clear videos showing exactly how to operate the pin-prick device and glucometer. It worked fine, and was very easy to use. Obviously, I cannot attest to its accuracy, but I have no reason to believe it isn't accurate. As an unexpected bonus, there was a BOGO coupon pasted on the inside flap of the box I received. Although I was suspicious of its authenticity, I followed the instructions. This monitor was consistently inaccurate. I compared it to two other glucose monitors and one at my doctor. It was either 30-40 points too high or low. This can be dangerous to people who rely on this to regulate their blood sugar. While it's cheap and easy to use, I do not recommend it at all. Read more
I have gestational diabetes and need a monitor for a few months. My insurance wanted me to pay over $100 for the monitor and supplies. This was much cheaper and it gives reliable readings. Keep in mind that all monitors can be off by + or - 10% from your "true" blood sugar levels. The finger pokes are quick and painless and it only needs a small amount of blood. It really helps to massage your finger for a minute before a finger prick to get the blood flowing. Read more
