Echoing all other reviews that I read before getting this...1. It works as advertised and quickly cleans your blades; basically in a few seconds. The instructions are clear and simple, and all you do is dip your blades in the liquid and turn on your clippers and the hair sloughs away. Done.*Except* - also echoing a lot of reviews -...2. It's a mess. This liquid is basically made to slide all over any surface, collect particles like hair, and then let them slide out of the machine. It works by having very high viscosity and working like an incredibly slippery lubricant. It slides through your clipper blades and lets gravity pull the hairs out. But this means that if you're handling the bottle at all, the liquid gets all over the outside of the bottle, the lid, your hands, the clipper handles, etc. It's so viscous, the bottle lid when tight doesn't really keep the liquid from coming out; and any residue left on your clippers will also seep out and onto the handle. It really is a mess.Understanding how this works now, I don't think I'd buy this stuff again. This is because I'm a home barber - I mainly use the clippers to trim my own hair and to cut that of my kid. I use my clippers once or twice a month at most. So when I close up the (plastic) container and put it away in my barbering box, I get the stuff on everything, and it swishes out just from moving it into and out of its box. I just can't keep this out in its own spot, ready for its occasional use. I love good tools, and I love things made to keep good tools well maintained, but I've learned the valuable lesson from this stuff that good tools and their maintenance infrastructure still needs proper storage infrastructure, otherwise it won't work together well.Basically, this stuff really only makes sense if you keep it in a single, dedicated spot on an accessible shelf, and you store your clippers hanging down from a hook (where the liquid residue will just drip down, away from the handle). In other words, this stuff is really made for actual commercial barbers - someone using the clippers over and over, all day, every day, week to week. If you have space at home to dedicate to a similar setup, then you won't really need to worry about the mess issue. But if you're planning on storing this away and taking it out, and doing the same with your clippers, then heed this review and know that you will not be able to avoid the mess factor and should keep a lot of towels or tissue on hand.A better alternative for an occasional barber like myself might just be to stick with the Andis blade lubricant, a small brush, and a towel/tissue. I love this Blade Care product. First because it performs as advertised and that is extremely important to me. After a quick dip of my clipper blade they perform as though they've been sharpened. I've got a number 10 ceramic blade that is 9 years old and still cuts very well. Dunk the clipper blade right in the jar while the clippers are running. Extends the life of my clipper blades. This is the 2nd time I've bought this. The 1st time, I'd have given the product 5 stars without reservation. This time out, I'd give it 3.5 stars, but would err on the side of a lower rating. The liquid itself is great, and works the same as the 1st time -- that is, it works as expected. However, Andis seem to have made a bad decision changing their plastic canister. It looks the same, is sized the same, but is definitely not the same. The product I received has a noticeably softer plastic body canister. So soft that it bends when being held to the point that it becomes near impossible to screw on the lid properly. I now practically have it semi-open as the lid is really just a pain to thread properly with the warping canister. The plastic on this one seems to be nowhere near as stiff as it needs to be. No such problems with my first experience with the product a couple of years back.Relating as well to the seemingly new material for packaging, the foil seal on the canister was also disappointment. It's one of those that was stuck with some adhesive that doesn't come off cleanly. In fact, the mouth of my canister is still lined with the foil that won't come off, much less come off cleanly. It was another annoyance that presented itself from the very start (upon opening, obviously).Good product, but Andis seem to have cut costs on the container. Read more

I couldn't get great use out of this product.I needed something at home to help clean and take care of my clippers after I shave...but this product is wayyyy to oily. Normally I dry shave...clean my clippers...then lubricate with clipper oil...then come back two days later ready for my next shave. When cleaning with the BladeCare, two days later the blades are way too oily and leave a residue all over my face...and negatively affect my clippers ability to cut my beard off.I've gone back to using alcohol to clean my blades, and then using light clipper oil to lubricate afterwards. Using this method, I can dry shave, clean my blades with the alcohol...lightly oil my blades with my clipper oil....and then a couple days later be ready to grab my clippers again for another smooth dry shave. I was pleased to receive this in good order--no leaks. I used it immediately, putting some in a smaller container to dip the blade in it shallowly. I had been doubtful it would do anything much better than WD-40 plus 3M oil. However, after two dips in it as I was clipping my cocker's coat, I was surprised and pleased to find that the Andis clippers I've been using for six years suddenly began to perform as they had before I thought they had "broken" a few weeks ago. I had been considering replacing the motor or at least the switch, but it may simply be that the blades needed this professional grade cleaning fluid. I had read about it on an old forum while looking for what I might do to repair the clippers.I am surprised at the difference it has made and the money it is already saving me by not having to repair the clippers yet. I am super pleased! Read more

I've only been grooming my dogs for a few months. On the recommendation of the groomer who taught me, I bought a set of Andis clippers and 3 blades, which I've been oiling every time I've used them and cleaning out with a toothbrush afterwards. After only about 4 grooming sessions, the coat finish seemed a bit worse, rather than the improvement I had expected to accompany my practice. Also 2 of the blades were slightly tarnished, which really did not impress me at all. This cleaner got an almighty amount of crud out, followed by a much better clip on top of the one I'd done a couple of days before. The only reason I've marked it down is the container. It arrived with the seal intact, well packed in a padded box and it still leaked through the padding and outer packaging. I haven't lost much but think it's worth a mention. Read more

This product is absolutely fantastic, due to the current situation in the world I decided to purchase a Wahl clipper from Argos to cut my own hair, after I have finished using the clipper, I just submerge the clipper blade in this solution, and an unbelievable amount of gunk oozes out from deep within the blades, it really does deep clean the blades, I did open my trimmer once to clean it but I now thoroughly regret that decision, because fitting the blade and readjusting the cutting head, was the biggest nightmare I have ever faced. With this product you will never need to open your clipper blades again. Read more

First time buying this product, I’ll get to the pointDid it do what it says? Yes I did and done it good job on removing the excess in the trimmer!Value for money? Not sure it looks like a product that could be worth about £5 no more to be honest.Downside... it’s VERY oily... I mean you’ll have to wash your hands a couple of times to get rid of that oil... I mean a car’s engine oil isn’t oily as this haha but nevertheless it does the job.. so Read more

I'm a dog groomer - this stuff is a revolting gloopy mess! It's so oily and gloopy it leaves hair on the blades - impossible to remove. Every time I would start clipping a dog's coat it would leave an oily, greasy, hairy residue - not great when you are clipping a white dog and the previous one was black! Design of packaging is rubbish - even sat on the shelf it leaks an oily mess everywhere. Awful product for the price, I'll never purchase again. Read more

Really cleans the blades well. It's a bit messy as there is oil in it too and I would suggest you get some out with a spoon or suchlike and put into a small lid to use. If you keep dipping them into the big pot all the debris sinks to the bottom. Some folk may find this ok, but I didn't like the thought of it so take out a small bit each time then throw it.
