My dog was newly diagnosed with diabetes. He has to do glucose curves weekly that requires him to go to the vet and they test him every two hours over the course of 8 hours. It’s costly and causes him stress. My veterinarian suggested I get this tester. It came within 4 days- as expected. The cost of this device is the cost of 1 glucose curve- so it’s worth it. Just a hint- it’s best to prick the dogs lip-as they bleed really easy there as opposed to the ear which takes a lot more effort to get it to bleed. Don’t use the pen that pushes the lancet. Touching the lancet to their lip really softly does the trick. Just turn on your device and you have two minutes to collect your sample. It’s easiest to test your pet with two people first until you get your moves down. One person holds and pricks the lip while the other uses the device to collect the samples. It will be nerve racking at first- but it does get easier. Set up of your device- watch a YouTube video. Reading the directions was tough. I recommend reading the directions first- then watching YouTube. I also watched a YouTube on how to perform the test. I watched a couple of them and picked the technique I felt worked best for me. The first two times I tested my dog I think I went through 4 test strips because I kept getting an error message. The more patient you are and the more you work with it the easier it becomes. Work with your vet, because the reading can be pretty scary. My first curve started at over 750, went down to 265 and back up to 456. In humans- that would be bad- but for dogs- my vet said that was normal until we get the dosage right. Like I said- he was diagnosed three weeks ago and we need to do a glucose curve weekly until we get him stabilized. This device is easy to read and use with patience and practice. Stick with it and don’t be alarmed if you go through several test strips until you get your moves down. Read more
The only monitor that I’ve tried with this kind of accuracy. Obviously with reliable accuracy being the number one most important deciding factor when purchasing a BG monitor for your pets. Read more
I read some previous reviews about this product not being accurate. I did the check with the test liquid and it fell within the approved range. When compared with the results I received from my vet they couldn’t have been much closer to the same readings I was getting. Very easy to use and simple instructions. Refill strips are kind of pricey but what can you do when they are a required item. Now if I can only convince my dog to appreciate this product as much as I do everything would be perfect. Read more
Good unit for checking dogs sugar. Very little blood needed to activate strip. Strips are almost as expensive as entire kit though, which is why I bought this second one as backup. Seems very accurate during second testings and curves. Read more
What a deal! For a few dollars more than I would have paid for just test strips alone, I was able to upgrade my whole monitor kit. This one beeps as soon as it has enough blood on it. I'm very happy with the purchase. I was also super pleased to have it delivered the same day as I placed the order, but I know this is not available to all locations. Read more
Easy to set up for dog or cat. Not sure of accuracy as I have nothing to compare it with. Too bad they price pet monitors so much higher than human ones. Not sure why that is. The test strips are crazy priced too. Read more

My dog was recently diagnosed diabetic. We were told to get a monitor. This one works great! So easy to use, takes just a drop of blood. Helped me save my dog when she was having a hypoglycemic crisis because I could so easily test her glucose and didn't waste any time giving her the syrup she needed to raise her glucose. Read more
