I am in my mid-sixties and have experienced gradual hair loss with age. Alpecin was recommended by my hair stylist as a shampoo to retard hair loss, and promote hair regeneration. My findings after 2 and 1/2 years of use:A GREAT SHAMPOO (at least for my thinning hair)- It's formulation does, as claimed, leave my hair with good body- A small amount (est. 1/3 the volume of other shampoos) left on the scalp for 2 minutes while I shower does the trick- I no longer need to use conditioner- I also the Alpecin after-shampoo liquid after showering (stopped once, noticed less body, so resumed. A definite difference using it)NEGLIGIBLE EFFECT ON HAIR LOSS- My dermatologist agrees with the benefits of caffeine, but advised that there is not clinical evidence to support that topical application restores hair growth or retards hair loss- The rate of my hair loss/thinning appears to have been reduced, though I attribute this more to the effect of leaving my hair with fuller body (Congrats to those reviewers who have witnessed hair regeneration)Overall, I highly recommend it as a daily shampoo. I have never used this prior to ordering it on here. I am pretty disappointed over it though. It smells exactly like a Dove body wash I used to use. It’s literally the exact scent and it’s even the same blue color. That in itself has turned me off of this as a shampoo. It’s also not adding any thickness to my fine hair. I am wondering if this is actually a fake?? I have no idea how to tell but I’m guessing it’s just body wash that has been put into an Alpecin bottle. Read more

Let me start with I am a male in my mid 30s I have a full head of hair but its thinning. I have a lot of what they call lifeless hair. This shampoo actually says what it says it does. It give your hair more lift and makes hair look thicker after one shampoo use. Will it regrow hair that you already lost? I highly doubt it. So, this stuff actually works. I guess the caffeine stimulates you hair to give it a fuller look. I already have thin hair on top , after i shampoo it and dry it, my hair is thicker . i have tried so many other shampoos and finally found one that works. The shampoo smells nice too. If you have oily hair, this shampoo will work wonders. If its dry, you will probably get dandruff unless you use a conditioner after, but that would defeat the purpose of this shampoo. I doubt this product prevents hair loss or grows new hair. I'm not sure what they mean when they claim it supercharges your hair. So many claims made by shampoos are usually exaggerations. Caffeine seems to be the latest buzz word in shampoos and hair growth. Overall I like the shampoo and will continue using it but I don't expect miracles. At best it might keep your hair healthy. I have used it, but after reading one of the chemicals it contained was "sodium laureth sulfate". I decided not to use it any more. Any website promoting hair growth will tell you to avoid any shampoo that has this chemical. as it strips the hair of your natural oils. My hair was very dry after using this, although it did seem fuller. I see they recommend their conditioner after shampooing which I did not have. The other claim that surprises me is to use it daily on your scalp to promote hair growth? Who washes their hair everyday? Especially with harsh chemicals. Read more

This is the only product I've ever used which helped hair loss, and I've tried just about everything. I was shedding at an alarming rate, and my hair was dramatically thinning as I passed through my late 20s. Using this has almost completely stopped the shedding. I went from seeing hair on my pillow and in the drain daily, to hardly losing any hair at all. I'm not sure if it's helped any re-growth, but it has absolutely halted the shedding.I wish the ingredients were a bit more natural, and it can be drying, but I use argan oil once or twice a week to combat that.
