I used a 20 volume developer because that's what I already had on hand and didn't think it would make that big of a difference but it came out damn near black!Not a bad thing for me, I naturally have very dark brown hair so it was a few shades darker than normal. I don't know if it was the 20 volume instead of 10 or if the "intense" was super serious. It has faded a little to be a bit more obvious that it's dark brown instead of black, it's taken a few months to get there.Came out beautiful, silky, and shinny. I’ve never used a black hair dye before. I’m always a copper sunset types of girl. Seeing the review on these resulting in black and shiny hair made me want to try. I was amaze that I did not need to put some sort of oil around the perimeter of my hair line. We usually have to do this with other permanent dyes. I had no stains with this one. I’ve only used 1 box already so I am not yet seeing the full black shiny look I’m going for but maybe it’s because I need to go through a few more boxes before getting that result. A friend of mine said the back of my head is a different shade than the front. Not sure why because the entire head as covered during the application process. I’m thinking that maybe when I’m showering and the water would always get in the back of my hair (which I don’t mind because the time is hot here 🇯🇲 ) it probably washed the color out overtime. I have always also seen where it was transferred to my pillowcase after forgetting to a sleep cap. Read more

HOLY AMMONIA!I chose this specific one because I’m pregnant and I wanted to get back to my natural sun lit color to avoid dying my hair for this particular reason: the smell. I figured ok bleach free would be perfect but that certainly didn’t stop the smells— it was just all ammonia. I did thankfully have my covid19 mask and a bunch of shower caps that I ordered. I’m thankful that I did because my eyes were burning! I mixed it with my half a bottle of developer. My hair was originally like a light brown so it didn’t completely “bleach” blond my hair like I expected. I could’ve mixed it wrong, but I mean it does say that it doesn’t suggest use on brown hair at a certain darkness. Anyways overall, just like any other hair dye there will be some irritation and burning but it certainly wasn’t unbearable. I’ve had worse experiences with other brands.
