My wife broke both her shoulders. Her mobility was very limited. She used the bear claws to scratch her nose and head. She could extend them herself even with both arms in slings. I can see where they would be great back scratchers, but that is not what we bought them for originally. The price was great and they work great. I keep one in the car for her and one by her chair. I bought these scratchers to use in getting out weeds and dead grass between a chain link fence and another fence. I kill the weeds and the grass, but I couldn't find anything that would fit into the chain links so that I could pull out the dead weeds and grass after killing it. These scratchers are really cute and would make a great Christmas stocking gift. The fact they are telescopic makes them easy to pack or carry, too. The media could not be loaded.  I’ve owned those bamboo back scratchers in the past and while addressing a back itch you can’t reach, I have to say I’m liking the metal “fingers” much more.Currently suffering a frozen shoulder and so I thought the extendable arm would come in handy. The finger tips are smoothly rounded and give a much more satisfying and fine tuned scratch than those wooden ones due to the combination of spread out, pointy roundness of the finger tips and the metal.Unexpected bonus - my cat loves it too, especially under the chin and around the cheeks. I’ve even managed to comb out loose fur with it with gentle strokes!Proceed with your cat with caution as it may not share the same sentiment.Also have used it as a pointer while homeschooling kids during the pandemic. I bought several of these as inexpensive gifts that I know will be used. I have one at my desk at home and also at work. I tried to buy a replacement for my collapsible back scratcher, in a large box store. They no longer carried them and the only ones there were large long wooden ones. I looked on Amaazon and saw exactly what I needed. These are the identical type I was looking for and I was able to get 5 for the price I paid for 1 several years ago.
