With allergies to latex and the so-called latex-free adhesives, 3M's latex-free Coban is an essential ingredient in my first aid kits and medicine cabinet. Recently, I broke several bones in a few fingers, and the hand specialist ordered them wrapped and splinted in Coban. After using up the roll his office supplied, I discovered that I could not find the latex-free Coban locally any longer, and none of the generic substitutes I tried would stick to themselves. Thank goodness, it is now offered on Amazon.com.The price -- just over $30 when I ordered -- may seem like a lot, but it breaks down to little more than a buck a roll, which is far less than I paid for the no-name subs that didn't work. To tape three fingers every day (and twice some days), I'll use a lot of this by the time my bones heal . . . and the rest will be on hand for the next injury! In addition to splinting broken fingers, I use this with cotton sponges/gauze, to make adhesive-free bandages for small cuts. The slight compression stops the bleeding, without the allergic reactions I get from exposure to adhesives and/or latex.I personally do not find it easy to tear, and I have noticed that nurses, physician assistants and other medical professionals generally cut, rather than tear, this tape. It can be done, but I can't do it one-handed. I keep scissors handy instead. Read more
I have a latex allergy which can make life difficult I also have significant psoriasis that I have to put medicine on I wear special gloves and it helps to be able to wrap the bandages with this so that they don't move around my sleep it's comfortable there's no smell and being able to get a hold of latex free and a halfway reasonable price makes me very happy I do wish it was cheaper but it's the cheapest I can find with the greatest quality Read more
The perfect wrap for blisters. After a hot and humid session at camp, my daughter came home with nearly every surface of her feet covered in blisters--some with blisters of their own. We tried the little rubber toe caps--they came off. We tried athletic tape--it rolled and rubbed. We tried wrapping the whole ball of her foot--the tape worked its way into a tangle. This tape has just enough stickem and stretch to stay in place without causing more problems. And it doesn't cut like some bandaid edges can do. Yes--we bought the pack of 6 so we had a roll in the car, in her soccer bag, and in her locker (with a few spares). Read more
