I can’t keep these in my hair no matter what. They stretch open and slide off/out. Overall if you plan to use these once, they are decent. My grandma had knee length hair she kept pinned in a bun. I recall adoringly watching her wash her hair and brush it then re-pin it into a bun. Her Bobby pins were lifetime use because she didn’t have the cash to buy things over and over. They were probably from the dollar store, or MAYBE Walmart in the Deep South. Nothing fancy, but leaps and bounds better than all I’ve bought so far. Sometimes I’m jealous of the quality we as a society have given up for quantity. She had less money but better produced “stuff”. I’ve got more crap stuff and spend all my money trying to get what she had in terms of quality only to find a quantity of inferior products. I have ordered the rather spendy Japanese made brand. I’ve also ordered another quantity of other options (prior to these) that were far more inferior. Hopefully the new (expensive ones in comparison) will prove to the the ones I’m searching for. In any case, however, the tin these come in is SUPER CUTE! Save it for playing cards or sharing tiny chocolates, especially for Easter time!Ps when I originally reviewed, I had one of the other brands mixed up and it flaked. This brand isn’t flaking. It’s just not strong and opens wider and wider falling completely out. Be careful or you’ll feel one slide out and down you neck and back. I bought these hair pins a few months ago and really like them. I like to pull my hair back in a sloppy bun, but these pins can be used for a smoother ballerina type bun too. The box is very handy and I never struggle to find them. The pins come in two sizes. One is larger than a regular pin and is sturdy. The smaller pin is the standard size.
