Bought to keep mice out of attic. Ran it through a diffuser uncut... don't do that. My whole house smelled like a nursing home met a vapor rub convention and a candy cane shop in a tornado. The mice soon lost all sense of smell and started bathing in it. You would be asleep, wake up smelling a candy cane fart and hear a scurry. So I did the humane thing and poisoned the mice instead. Now I use the oil in the bathroom at work, it makes the guys think their grandma is around and they wash their hands more and swear less. I gave the diffuser and a lot of the peppermint to some kids that live in a van down by the river to cover up smoke odors, their van must burn oil or something. Read more
This stuff is used on my hardwood floors. Steaming hot water, vinegar and this peppermint oil. You will cry and gag as you clean but those spiders are going to flee your home along with other insects and/or rodents.Deal with it.Can probably be used in the garden. Fun to spray at the step-son after he's smoked a bowl. Read more
Do not buy this, its NOT a large container - waste of money! The picture makes it look like a big container where when it arrived it was smaller than a box of Cream of Wheat! (that is small ike a perfume) NOT WORTH THE PRICEvery very upset to spend money on this and it is NOT EVEN CLOSE to what I THOUGHT I WAS GETTING@ So upset with this item! Read more
I mix one once of peppermint oil with one gallon of water add a little dish soap and spray it on any plant I don't want the deer to eat. I have been doing this from May through June and so far the deer haven't eaten anything I sprayed. Read more
It is horrible! Not real peppermint essential oil. Not even 16fl ounces, like they claim. Measured, as the fluid only and even the bottle, which I have pictures of everything. There wasn't even 14fl oz in the bottle, and the smell is absolutely disgusting. I am a Young Living consultant and i buy the cheaper oils for my natural soaps, but this company, I will never buy from again. They lie about the actual amount and what you are getting. BTW, YL consultants are not allowed to use the oil in products they make and sell, like soap. Oh yeah, I even weighed the bottle, before opening, and it's not even 16fl ounces either! Even worse, half an hour later, my husband and I both have migraines and he has thrown up because of their product. Read more
Like many others I got this for Insect control. ( in portable toilets / plastic outhouses in my case).I put about 1/2 oz to a pint of water and use from a sprayer. (you have to use a good sprayer, it will make an cheap sprayer not work in a week or less.)It separates fairly quickly, so you do have to shake if before each use.I've found it works well for flying insects (residual effect I think), and good for direct contact for Spiders and Ants. It does not kill them, just repels them instantly. Unfortunately there is not enough residual to keep the spiders or ants away for long, unless I really flood the specific place they are at. (I need to try cotton ball stuffed into the crack they come in, or try spraying uncut?)Also had an issue with earwigs at a few locations, and this did seem to run them off after a few treatments. (BTW: earwigs can live a year or more, unlike most insects with short life spans... and they can give a nasty sting.)I see many of you are using for Mice. I have no issues with mice, so can't say regarding them.Yes, if you just open the container and smell, it's a bit solvently smelling. But once mixed in water and sprayed, it smells very strong and pepperminty. I've had many people say they like it after we spray in the freshly cleaned toilet, (kids are the best when they come out and describe to their parents or older sibling). Unfortunately the scent does not last very long. Maybe a hour at best. However, it is very hot now, (100+) so maybe once temps drop to the low 90s or stay in the 80s or below, the scent may remain longer. Of course insects become much less of an issue here once temps stay below mid 80s.Bottom line: I've just about run out and will be ordering more. Read more
This stuff is very powerful, be careful!I wish I had been smarter about the first time I used this stuff. My basement was uninhabitable for days, lol.On the other hand it works great for what I got it for. Repels normal house spiders and insects and almost instantly kills those NASTY brown recluse spiders when sprayed directly! Haha.Though again, take caution. The fumes alone will make your eyes and airways water/burn and any droplets that come into contact with exposed skin will need to be rinsed off immediately or it will burn something fierce. Read more
Received on 1/25/17. I opened the container and it has a peppermint type odor to it, but I could also smell a chemical smell, and I could see why other people said they smelled a turpentine type smell from this as well. With that said, I'd NEVER put this into my body or into a diffuser to scent a room where I'd be breathing this stuff in. I'm afraid it would rot my lungs. However, that is not why I purchased this. I plan to use this to put on cotton balls and put in front of a small fan to blast tons of whatever scent this is into the attic to run out a few rodents that have taken up squatting in my house. I'm assuming it is squirrels, but I haven't seen them.As far as being 100% pure, if that is not part of the company name, it's an outright lie in my opinion. My wife buys Young Living essential oils and that is night and day different from this stuff. Of course with that YL purity it would probably be $200 for this amount of true "essential oils", but with luck the squirrels won't be able to tell the difference. I'll follow up later if this works or fails...I hope I remember to anyway. Read more
Not sure what I was thinking when I ordered as I know better than to buy oils that come in a plastic container. The peppermint may have been okay at one point -- but after sitting in the plastic jug - the smell is very putrid as the plastic has leached into the peppermint and/or the peppermint has leached out the plastic. It smells like a chemistry experiment gone wrong. I would strongly suggest if you desire a peppermint oil smell - do not buy this. They need to change the packaging - glass only with oils. Read more
Was pleasantly surprised by the delivery speed, I had ordered the item in advance of my need, it came, faster than was indicated at time of purchase.Again pleasantly encouraged when upon opening the peppermint oil, it smelled like undiluted Peppermint. Again, as claimed by the seller.I have used it in some DIY Pest Rejectors, placed strategically, throughout the kitchen. I closed off the longevity, simply because I haven't had the product long enough to assess longevity, however, as long as the product performs as I think it will, the value is good, and I will be re-ordering this product.Seems to be working for us, however, my wife doesn't like the smell, she does like the absence of the mice. I give zero stars! The seal was broken. The cap was duct taped closed. Smells like crap. What the hell is this?!! Read more
I don't like this peppermint oil at all! It doesn't smell natural, it smells like chemicals, which is off-putting, and makes me wonder if it's safe for my cats to be around. Overall, not impressed at all. Read more
Great for keeping the mice etc. from wanting to invade the RV while the RV is stored for winter at our park. Have had success using peppermint and wintergreen oil sprinkled on cotton balls placed in aluminum tart tins placed in cupboards and under bed. No evidence of the varmints invading the premises for the past 7 years. By purchasing the larger container one can save hundred of dollars over a period of a few years. We normally buy a couple of small bottles at a pharmacy and that only equals about an 1 oz. for at about $30.00. So purchasing the larger container will save $ in the long run. Read more
