USED AS DIRECTED this is the best sunscreen I've ever used. I'm 64, been an active, outdoors guy all my life--backpacking, surfing, scuba, sailing. I've tried all kinds of sunscreens with varying degrees of success. This one works. Put it on well before you go out in the sun. Rub it in well. Give it time to absorb. Yes, it will leave you looking a little white-ish. That's why it works. It's very water resistant. We just spent 2 weeks on Kauai and were at the beach almost every day-- SUP, sailing, snorkeling, just hanging out in Hanalei Bay. It stayed on in the water and we didn't burn. Of course we also used some common sense. We didn't overdo it the first few days. We wore hats. We wore long sleeves when we knew we were going to be out sailing all day. You remember common sense, right? Still, this stuff does the job. Just use it the way it's supposed to be used. It's sunscreen, not Dumbledore's Magic Anti-Sun Skin Potion. Read more

I bought this for my newly bald husband so his head wouldn't burn. Although I'm a skincare junkie, I didn't really look into the ingredients. Unfortunately, since he still has short hairs, this didn't work for his head without really rubbing it in - the white stuck to his hairs. So I started using it on my runs, and was surprised that it didn't run down my arms with sweat, it stay put. I'm always on the hunt for good facial sunscreen, and I was reading the bottle one day and noticed it said it could be used on the face. Then I finally read the ingredients and was really impressed. So I started using it on my face, and no lie, this stuff keeps my face protected AND matte all day, even in Miami humidity and sun. Seriously impressed. I also have very sensitive skin and it doesn't irritate me at all. I have yet to find a sunscreen that comes close to the properties of this one - if I do, I guarantee it will be 5 times as expensive, if not more so. Read more

This product did not work well at all for us on a vacation in Hawaii. I bought it specifically because it is reef safe and has higher SPF than other reef safe sunscreens. The biggest disappointment was that both my husband and I got sun burnt despite rubbing this into our backs before heading out to snorkel. Mind you, we are Indian and don’t burn easily. In addition, here are some other things I disliked but could have overlooked:- very hard to apply. It’s thick and takes a bit of work to rub into skin- goes on pretty pasty and stood out on our brown skins Read more

I really wanted to like this sunscreen! I bought it for a beach vacation in Mexico where we were doing some snorkeling, and was mindful about using reef-safe products. Unfortunately, ThinkSport sunscreen did not agree with my skin. While I did not get sunburned, it left an itchy, chemical-burn sensation where I applied it. The side effects lasted for days after application. I suspect that it's the Epsom salt in the list of ingredients that didn't fully dissolve in the mixture; Epsom salt is known to cause a similar burn-y feeling. If you have sensitive skin, make sure you do a test patch before smearing it all over your body like I did, haha! #sufferedforthereefs Read more

After receiving it today, I applied some to my face, neck, arms, and legs, and then took a 1 hour bicycle ride. This sunscreen goes on fairly easy, and it smells fine, a little citrusy. It does leave a white film on the skin, but you have to remember that this is a "physical" sunscreen, meaning it physically blocks or reflects the sun's damaging rays from your skin as opposed to a lot of the other stuff that does so chemically. I'm guessing Thinksport does this only if you put it on thick enough that it leaves a visible, white (think reflecting) film on your skin. I did apply it thick enough to leave that film, and I'm okay with having that look. However, it also was not friendly to my red sleeveless shirt which, I think, the zinc oxide in the screen may have stained.Ironically, I received this month's Consumer Reports magazine on the same day I received my order of Thinksport Sunscreen, and they rated this sunscreen #29 out of 35 lotions they tested. Their testing allegedly determined that the actual SPF is 0-9 instead of the 50+ claimed. I have no idea how accurate their testing is and, frankly, that isn't the biggest, most bothersome issue for me. I do suspect though that if people are not putting this on thick enough to cause the white film on their skin, then they are not achieving maximum, as-advertised, SPF.The biggest negative issue for me is how much of a pain it is to wash the stuff off. I spent at least twice as long as normal in the shower scrubbing and scrubbing to wash it off my arms and legs. Initially, I applied my usual amount of shower gel to a clothe but, as soon as I started washing an arm, the lather disappeared and the clothe would barely slide across my arm. I think I used about 25% of the bottle of shower gel plus alternating with a bar soap until I finally felt like I had the stuff washed off.I think IF you wear it like your supposed to wear it, nice and thick, you could achieve the SPF you're looking for. However, IF you don't like the thought of having a white reflective film on your skin and don't want to spend twice the time, twice the water, and twice the soap to wash it off your body, then maybe this is not your sunscreen. DO NOT BUY THIS! I used to make my own sunscreen and I know that this kind of sunscreen needs a LOT of zinc oxide to actually protect the skin from sunburn. This sunscreen DOES NOT protect the skin! My husband and I put A LOT of it on, we tried to make a thick layer, we looked white (which you have to in order to block sun rays) and still, we got burned on the first few hours in the sun! I've never burned using my own sunscreen. The next frustrating thing was that we were on vacation in Mexico, and we had to buy more sunscreen. Ended up buying another sunscreen (can't say the name of it, but I don't like because of all the chemicals, but at least we didn't burn more the rest of the trip) and spent twice the amount on it!!! I bought this to go scuba diving in Mexico with as it was safer for coral reefs. Unfortunately the weather was really bad so I didn't need sun-cream in the end.Instead I used it during summer in the UK. It was a complete disaster. My boyfriend applied it to his hair and forehead, and a hour or so later, it began to drip into eyes because of sweat and he experienced really bad eye irritation. His eyes were red and stinging. I thought this was very water resistant and designed for athletes, so very surprised how easily it was removed with sweat. We also both got sun-burnt despite using this. I may as well have not been wearing any sun-cream at all! I am usually quite careful in the sun as I have fair skin, and it is the first time in quite a while a sun-cream has let me down so badly!I would not recommend this product at all, especially not for sports or scuba diving, if it is so easily removed by sweat, and causes such irritation to the eyes. I also found it slightly itchy on the skin.I just regret buying 2 as I am going to have to throw both away. Read more

So far so good. I found it rubs in well and DOESN'T leave white residue on my face. I did not experience any of the "watery" contents as mentioned by others. In fact it is quite thick. I have yet to put it to the "sun" test but see no reason why it shouldn't protect. I purchased this as I have had skin cancer and need to protect my face daily. It feels good on the skin and has a slight perfume which is pleasant. I have high hopes! Read more

I recently bought 2x bottles of this for my trip to the Philippines having read online reviews and seen that the cream was “reef safe”.Sadly this is the worst suncream I have ever used. Application was poor, it did not absorb whatsoever, it literally just formed a white paste which sat on the skin and could still be moved 20 minutes after application. I am very fair skinned and I am extremely diligent to apply protection throughout the day to avoid getting burnt - this cream offered zero sun protection, using this cream caused my skin to burn for the first time in recent memory. It is that bad. Fortunately, my sister had brought out some “Banana Boat Dry Balance SPF 50 spray”, which I used and then had to overpay for more in a pharmacy whilst out there. If it wasn’t for that, this suncream would have completely ruined my holiday. Read more

Loved it! The cream does leave a white residue but that is normal if it contains that amount of zinc minerals. It stays even after a swim on the skin and we didn’t get a sunburn at all. I would recommend to reapply it after 2 hours or a swim though. Read more
