I was yet another victim of mixed reviews. I don’t typically write reviews but this one is necessary. Adds absolutely no volume. Leaves my hair greasy and scalp itchy. Hair falling out more than it should just from brushing. I trained my hair to only need to be washed 2-3x a week and after ONE day after using this I have to wash my hair again. I’ve used it three times in hopes of it being a fluke first use. Nope. It’s terrible. Read more
I have really fine, low porosity hair. It had started to look really greasy, stuck to my head, and almost spongy feeling. I did a little research and realized that my hair is in desperate need of protein, but because I have low porosity hair protein can actually do more damage then good (especially keratin for me). I found this, and it's been great. It has soy protein, and it's like #6 on the list of ingredients which makes it so it's not protein overload. Also because it's a shampoo the protein is actually able to penetrate my low porosity hair. My hair is starting to get it's volume back. If you find that this shampoo works great at first, but then your hair starts to dry out and get crunchy it's because it doesn't want anymore protein. Just take a break from using it. The conditioner doesn't contain protein tho, so that's always fine to use. Read more
Since reviews were all over the place and I use a lot of Burts Bees products, I hoped the bad reviews weren't true. Sadly they are. Worst shampoo I have ever used. It certainly shouldn't be called volumizing since my hair after a few hours was flat, limp and oddly greasy. The only good thing is it smells amazing. Will never buy again. Read more
Do Not waste your money on this shampoo. It leaves your hair feeling gross and oily. Using this + the conditioner is the worst combination to atlyle your hair with. My hair did not feel clean, volumous or anything of the adjectives it describes it to leave it. Do not waste your money. Read more
My elderly mother loves this product. She has coarse, very dry hair and has been using this product for a few years. I used to be able to purchase it locally but I have been unable to locate it in stores so I turned to Amazon. My mother also uses the corresponding moisturizing shampoo, which I also purchase on Amazon. Burt's Bees is a trusted company specializing in natural products while practicing environmentally responsible product sourcing. Their products are manufactured without sulfates, phthalates, petroleum and parabens, so you can feel good about the environment and your hair. Read more
We've used this shampoo for a long time and love it. Shipping these in an empty box, not so much when the top of every bottle leaks everywhere. So much so the box was saturated. Each was in it's own bag but all were leaking and every individual bag was covered in shampoo. Honestly, I've never had a shipment from Amazon that had this kind of issue and it's just not worth my time to try to rectify it. You win today, Amazon. Read more
This is absolutely horrible. I bought this originally because I'm trying to go non-toxic and figured I needed to give it some time to see if my hair needed an adjustment period, but it's still awful two weeks later. I used Burt's Bees shampoo and conditioner this morning, blow dried my hair (I don't use any additional product), and my hair was so greasy looking that my students thought my hair was WET! Seriously, do not buy this product, it is absolutely terrible. Read more
So, I am the sort who shampoos every day or nearly every day (although since last summer I've begun substituting one of those daily shampoos with a conditioning treatment about once a week) because my hair really bothers me when it isn't clean, and I just cannot stand it when it doesn't feel clean. I also always go for the most moisturizing shampoos and conditioners I can find especially in the winter. I generally use a leave-in conditioner or detangler after shampooing (and since Burt's Bees doesn't have one of those for humans I've used Mane and Tail's detangler spray). Yesterday my hair looked AMAZING but it felt very blergh, which sort of makes sense because I've read that dirty hair actually holds a hairstyle better than clean hair. I read another review from someone who said they felt like their hair was both shampooed and conditioned with just this shampoo, and on the theory that I might have overconditioned my hair yesterday I used the spray detangler sparingly today. It still doesn't feel clean, and going back to what I just said, if my hair doesn't feel clean I'm going to be sitting there wishing I could stop what I'm doing, find a flow of clean water somewhere and shampoo my hair. Which isn't really conducive to doing social events that involve presenting myself as a functioning human being to other people. For me, my hair has to be clean first, and looking a certain way is gravy. Unfortunately, this shampoo isn't fulfilling that for me. Sorry, Burt's Bees, I really wanted to love this shampoo and I gave you two stars because my hair did look good yesterday and because I appreciate your social responsibility as I read it on the shampoo label.Update: After nearly two weeks of squelching the urge to stop where I am to find a sink and shampoo my hair (with dish soap, if that's all I can find to hand) or straight-up buzzing it all off, I am now down to about half the bottle and I have decided I can't stand this anymore and life is too short. Today I shampooed with one of my multi-use camping soaps because I just couldn't stand the thought of using this again. The rest of this bottle will be shampoo for house guests and soaking soap for my combs, brushes, and hand-washable woolens. Read more
