Updated review (Sept 22, 2021):Still happy with the overall concept and implementation. I added some rubber-type padding to all the door hangers since a few door hangers rubbed off some paint of door frames. Not a big deal, but with the rubber padding, it also seems to lock the door hanger in place. Went to buy another set of door hangers and now they're $50/pair. I previously got two more pairs at $30/pair and another used pair from Amazon warehouse at ~$25. For the updated price, the value is not there for me since I would have had to spend an additional $150 for creating the three more sets. Definitely would not have gone this route at this price. Knocks off a half a star, but Amazon does not do half-point ratings. 3.5 stars.Original Review (Aug 31 2021):Bought the Complete Set, but that included only one set of Door Hangers. Didn't make sense to use only one of 6 handhold pairs in the set, so purchased additional Door Hangers. We also got the Wooden Slotted Holds. Now have them hanging on various door frames in the house. Overall, the quality is great and we can just hang whenever we are having conversations or just passing through between rooms. The only thing that is an issue is the hold is attached via just one screw. Make sure you tighten it since the hold can rotate if you do not initiate your hold above that screw (in the center). In a future version, adding a pin to the hold to make sure it doesn't rotate may help. We used an impact driver to ensure it was tight, but be careful if you do this and not over-tighten it. The hold may crack if it's too tight. Even then, it does rotate at times. Not a problem since you can keep your feet only inches from the ground when hanging. It would be more of an issue if you are much higher. 4 stars since it does rotate at times, but we love them since we can take them down quickly and relocate them as necessary. A little big for traveling, especially when flying, but if it's a must, they are a great solution for hotel rooms. Read more

The media could not be loaded.  I love this product PORTA-HANG, it is super easy to set, you can bring it to any place and set it in any door frame, I bring it with me and I train with it, this helped me a lot during the lock down when my climbing gym was closed. I bought the 6 piece training set and immediately I noticed a disappointing detail, the holds are not mirrored. If you look at a standard, one-piece hangboard you can see that all the holds are mirrored and symmetrical. With these holds it's like I got a pair of shoes with 2 right feet, it feels weird and makes the use of the holds less practical. For the price, I would expect the design to have more foresight.Another thing to note is that the padding is not included even though it is shown in one of the product photos. Read more

I use this product as a functional way to strengthen and practice my hand grip for rock climbing. I would test out the door frame first and not just attach it to any door frame. Most door frames are not attached to the wall to hold body weight. Soo you may need to reinforce the frame. There is a creaking noise that is made when in use. I can order different holds, practice at work, home and on the go. Great for travel or the busy person. Or just practice at home. Read more

Holds feel solid except for the fact that it won't fit properly in my doorway. Flexes a lot when putting weight on it. Wouldn't trust it with my full weight. Read more

When all the gyms shut down I was looking for a pull up bar, one of those that you can hang over a door frame. But they were all sold out, overpriced or both! I saw an ad for the Portahang from one of my social media feeds. They were made for indoor climbers to be able to change out different style grips. Although I’m not a climber, i saw the practicality of using these for bodyweight exercises in place of a pull up bar.The simplicity of the hangers allow for a very fast setup, just hang it over a door frame! It’s compact, which matters in a small living space where a standard over the door pull up bar might not be ideal. The grip on these definitely feel different when compared to a straight bar, but they work just as well for doing pull ups!With the portahang, I’ve been able to keep up a good, consistent home workout during a time when gyms were closed, and have been using them even after gyms reopened. The product overall was a great concept - but overall missed the mark for effectiveness. Very cool engineered concept to utilize the compressive force developed from the arc- BUT ITS VERY NOISY - maybe it’s the material choice? I placed padding between the arc on the backside and there was no alleviating the noise. So hopefully if you buy this you have no one else around to annoy with the squeaking.The other annoyance that I noticed is that it flexed enough to shift force towards the the inner edge of the molding on the handhold side, after some use it took a solid doorframe molding and pulled the material away in a rotational motion. Luckily on top and concealable- but needlessly annoyed. From my interpretation - your molding better be anchored with the strongest construction adhesive and with GRK equivalent screws anchoring it into the door header to keep it in place.As noted, I wanted to really like this product - way different then the rest - and no doubt there are some door frames suitable, along with people who can put up with the squeaking, But that will not be me.
