It smells INCREDIBLE! My toddler is mixed between Black and Indian and has soft glossy silky curls. This product is super gentle and makes her curls so manageable and her true crowning glory. If you have a non-reactive scalp, this stuff works great - it calms & defines curls and reduces frizzies. However, if you have a sensitive, allergic scalp I recommend staying away. This styler contains dimethicone which is a non-water soluble silicone that causes build-up, dermatitis (eczema and scalp lesions!), etc. Most curly girls do their best to stay away from silicone-based stylers because long-term use leads to severely dry hair and irritated scalps so, needless to say, I'm a bit surprised that a hypoallergenic styler uses it. It would be great if the creator of this line could replace the dimethicone with a gentler, water soluble silicone. Read more

Magical stuff. I struggled with my daughter's hair because at 6 months it was very curly and fizzy and while it was curly the ends would stick straight up so I could never get it to look nice. My son is of mixed ethnicity, too many to mention but he has very silky and fluffy curls. I wanted to keep his hair moisturized and healthy, especially since we live in the Vegas desert. Skin and hair can suffer in this climate. So, I started using original sprout products when I discovered it at my son’s barbershop a year ago and I must say.. My review is an honest experience with this hair product... I do not think this is worth the money. First, it does have a good smell;however, I do agree that the bottle comes Half empty which is not fear for the price the customer pays. Also, the product itself can be described as any other product you can buy a lot more cheaper... I had given up on my hair. After years of Arizona heat and dryness it was lack luster, coarse, and brittle. My once lovely natural waves looked like I had stuck my finger in a light socket. If you have a curly hair kiddo I highly recommend this stuff. I’ve been using it on my 8 year old since he grew hair! And I have a 3 year old now who I use this stuff on too. We have been trying to find something to use on my 4-year-old's hair, which is very fine, straight on top and curly underneath. Thus, we get ratty tangled messy hair. We have tried deep conditioner, leave in conditioner, combs, detangling brushes, etc. Finally, we tried this curl calmer. It seems to keep her hair less tangled, which is good - less tears while brushing her hair. I'm not in love with the texture of her hair after using this, but I can't put my finger on why. I was looking for a natural curly hair product for my 1 year old daughter and after reading the reviews decided to give this a go hoping it will detangle her hair whilst also keeping her curls intact. The product smells lovely and detangles well but I found that it didn't keep her curls in tact as expected as the hair soon goes fluffy and wild once dried. I found that I also have to use a light children's hair oil as well after this in order to hold her ringlet curls so they don't go messy. I also found that I have to use more than a pea sized amount i ended up having to use about a 10p size after although my daughter does have a lot of hair. My daughter has 3a/3b hair and is mixed white and afro Caribbean. Overall OK product but glad I got it in sale as would be disappointed having paid full price and having to buy an extra product to finish styling. Read more
