I brought this changing pad to go on top of a plain unfinished three drawer pine dresser from IKEA (the Tarva). It fits with a fraction of a inch hanging over the sides and looks nice with grey, white, black, green and wood in our bedroom. I did not attach it to the top of the dresser because we were using it as it a little bed for evenings when we spent a bunch of time or ate a meal outside in the backyard during the end of summer when the baby was a tiny newborn. Worked great.Haven't really used the safety belt yet but its nice to have for an older baby who is more squirmy I guess, although I don't think I would walk away from a baby on a changing pad anyhow. Too risky. So far belt is just tucked in the top drawer of the dresser while still attached to pad. This pad is truely waterproof. That aside from the perfect dresser top sizing was one of the main reasons I bought. After I read that the amazon best seller pad was not water proof I quickly settled on this one.I also like that it's four sided (sometimes I like to set or drape clothes over the end and the edge keeps everything in place) and don't think that will be a problem even for a larger baby.I haven't used a cover for it because I like to be able to just wipe up little spills and urps. Haven't had a problem with the white plastic staining. If you want to take off the big obnoxious tag on it don't overzealously rip it off or the seam on the bottom will probably rip too. Just sayin'. These things are all pretty cheaply made and not rated for heavy combat. The top plastic covering is not adhering to the inner foam so if it bothers you to see it wrinkle or bubble or make that crinkley plastic noise occasionally in the corners don't say I didn't tell you. The plastic is thick and so it's not bad (and I'm a pretty picky person). The bottom side is what feels like cardbord for support covered by that water resistant materal they make some cheap reuseable shopping bags out off. Keeps it from slipping around too much I guess because of the texture. So I guess I've never met a changing pad I'm head over heals in love with but this one lives up to 4 stars after the two months we've used it so far and seems like it will continue to. We bought this based on the great reviews and I liked the fact that it's the only one I've found which is completely enclosed around all sides. It's larger than I expected--a good thing in the end because that means it will accommodate my baby as she grows larger without needing to be replaced. It has attached straps to screw it into a wall or the back of the dresser (as they suggest) although we put the black non-skid stuff that usually goes under dishes under this and it seems to really hold it in place well. So, we're going to hold off on screwing it into anything until we see if this solution works just as well. We will be going out of town and want to take it with us, so that's part of the reason for waiting on screwing it in place. Also, the flaps aren't long so if you screw it into the back of the dresser it will also move it further back on the top which may seem like too far back for you--it would be a bit for me since I'm on the short side! This isn't commentary on the product itself, but there only seems to be one changing pad cover that works with this which is unfortunate since I like some of the other colors that you can buy for the others. This is probably just something to be aware of when you make the purchase, but if you're like me it's not going to be the be-all-and-end-all reason to buy (or not buy) a product. It's just an accessory after all and you could probably use this without any sort of cover since it feels water proof to me--plus, you could put the disposable covers across the center if you really wanted to cover it. At any rate, I will update once our little girl comes but so far it fits in the nursery well and seems to be well made and a great size.UPDATED 10/18/13: Our baby is just over a month old now and the size seems perfect. The baby is great on the pad and although we haven't had to strap her into yet since she's not really moving around, I am confident that the strap will work fine. I still wish the part that screws into the changing table/dresser top were a bit longer because it would pull it too far back for us to use comfortably as I mentioned in the first part of this review, but otherwise I am happy with this product. I still wish they would make additional cover, though. We bought three and returned one, but I may buy a third since there are days when we go through them pretty quickly if there is a lot of spit up happening in our world! Read more
