I really, really wanted to like this, but I just don’t. My child is ambivalent about it. Where to begin?It’s a soft silicon sleeve that sits over a bulb, of sorts. The idea is to “tap” the unicorn to switch through the myriad of colors.That’s all fine and dandy, but it requires far more force to thump the silicon sleeve to elicit a color change than it does to accidentally initiate one by, say, setting your phone down next to it to charge. Or if you accidentally bump the table. Or close a drawer. Or pick up your phone.The variety of colors is outstanding, and depending on the color you choose the brightness level is anywhere from nightlight bright to small desk lamp bright. You’ll need to keep the included remote (with battery!) out of little hands and somewhere safe lest you want to risk losing the ability to set brightness, timer and the fancier options (pulsating color change that cycles through all available colors, etc). The remote also makes choosing a specific color far handier than bumping the unicorn.The design is simple but cute. So far it’s stayed clean and hasn’t broke.From what I can tell, it can be operated with or without the cord. However the included cord is terribly short and the plug end that goes into the base of the unicorn falls out at the slightest chance it gets.All in all, it’s a cute idea but poorly (cheaply?) executed. My 6 yr old loves this! She loves unicorns and pegasus and she doesn't like the dark. She dims and brightens it on her own, she plays with the colors. The orange looks more like a burnt yellow and the yellow is sort of a pastel yellow. This item is squishy! I thought it was completely solid, but it is not.
